is secretary. Wooten is head of
the campus chapter of the
American Cancer Society.
Rymer said the AIFC was
originally formed in 1967, but
went inactive in 1969.
Impetus for reviving the group
came as a result of meetings
of local fraternity advisers, he
said.
The group's purpose,
according to its constitution,
is to “establish a common
ground for open discuarion
and coordination on subjects
of vital importance to the
univeisity community, the
University of Georgia and the
fraternity system.”
THE BASIC IDEA of the
group, said Rymer, is “to set
up a group of men who can
create an atmosphere of
communication between the
University and the
fraternities.”
He said that though
"fraternities have come a long
way and are at the very height
of maturity, there is still •
need for and
communication with IFC
leaders.”
The alumni group will form
six standing committees to
assist the Universty's
fraternities. The six
committees will be
memcbenhip, public relations,
chapter consultation, chapter
programs, communication and
policy and facilities.
Rymer said the group
hoped to bring many men
who have had few ties with
their fraternities since
graduation back in touch with
the IFC. Membership is open
to any man who has been a
member of a fraternity at any
college or university, he said.
Rymer said the IFC has
been working with the alumni
group and that IFC President
BUI Griffin has been “quite
helpful in getting the AIFC
back on its feet again."
