a professional staff to diagnose
problems of food-producing
animals.
The diseases of larger
livestock such as cattle and pigs
will be analyzed. The School of
Veterinary Medicine already
has a small animal’s clinic.
"Our job is to find out
what the problem is and then
to recommend treatment. The
lab will usually operate on a
herd or flock basis," said
Anderson.
A similar lab already exists
in Tifton to serve South
Georgia. According to Dr.
Anderson, people in North
Georgia requested the lab
because of difficulty in
transporting sick animals.
"The lab operates on a
contract from the State
IX’partment of Agriculture. It
will depend on how much the
lab is used as to how large it
becomes," \nderson said. •
