GCCE offers
extra courses
Several new courses for
independent study are being
offered by the Georgia Center
for Continuing Education,
according to Ms. Elizabeth
Powell, supervisor for the
independent study program.
Courses are now available in
Spanish. French, German and
ecology. A course in drug
interaction is also being offered
to Pharmacy students along
with a course in drug abuse
designed for teachers and law
enforcement officers. A
complete curriculum of law
enforcement courses is planned
:n the near future.
ACCORDING to Ms
Powell, a student can take up
to one-lourth of his work load
through the program. Students
can finish their degrees in less
than four years through the
program, Ms Powell said, and
students who have transferred
and lost credits can make them
up through independent study.
I hose who have poor
academic backgrounds in
particular subjects may also
find the program helpful.
Students are allowed to work
at their own ratq fp finish
courses in as little as six weeks
or as long as a year.
Courses offered for
independent study are listed in
the Independent Stud)
Booklet available at the
(Georgia Center, and are listed
under the same numbers as
those offered in the regular
University - curriculum. The
program consists primarily of
courses which fulfill basic
freshman and sophomore
requirements. All courses are
offered at all times during the
year.
