Willy Brandt denies
blackmail reports
BONN — Former Chancellor Willy Brandt denied
Wednesday as grotesque reports that he had ever exposed
himself to Communist blackmail or resigned his office
because a Communist spy on his staff had learned
embarrassing and delicate details of his private life
Brandt's outburst was provoked by opposition newspaper
reports that he may have resigned Tuesday because he
feared an East German Communist spy on his staff had
learned embarrassing details of his private life, thus
opening him to possible blackmail
Brandt told the leadership of his Social Democratic party
that one of several reasons for his resignation was his
belief that the domestic political crisis around him would
have restricted his ability to deal with East Germany, at
least temporarily.
Hearst family offers
information reward
SAN FRANCISCO — Mr. and Mrs. Randolph A Hearst
Wednesday offered a $50,000 reward for information
leading to the safe return of their kidnaped daughter,
Patricia.
The reward was the first offered in the case, which began
more than three months ago when the 20-year-old
newspaper heiress was carried from her Berkeley
apartment Feb 4
In a related development. San Francisco Mayor Joseph
L. Alioto confirmed reports that police believe the
Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapers of Miss Hearst
were considering kidnaping one or more of the mayor’s
young grandchildren.
Hearst. president and editor of the San Francisco
Examiner, said the reward money has been deposited in a
bank account and will be paid to the person or persons who
provide authorities with information leading to Miss
Hearst s safe return to her parents’ home
He asked anyone with information about the whereabouts
of his daughter or the SLA to contact the FBI or police. He
emphasized that the names of those offering information
would be kept secret.

I had been waiting tor Marshall Duke Rooster for three days in Yamell
County. I was aiming to hire him out to catch the man that shot my father
three times in the back with a black Remington rifle. He was an evil man,
Tom Weekley was, and not a good Presbyterian.
After Marshall Rooster had delivered his prisoners to the county jail, I
approached him and said, “Marshall Duke Rooster, I am Missy Small. I am
a good Presbyterian, a Republican and have a determination to capture the
man that shot my father down in cold blood here in the streets of the Yamell
County seat with a black Remington rifle. I have brought fifty dollars in gold
coins to offer to the man that has enough Real Spunk to help me bring this
dastardly criminal to receive his just rewards. I have secured a feisty pony
from Mr. Doggett at the stables who thought he was capable of going me
one better in a deal for what was rightfully mine; the pony having been
legally purchased by my late father who was shot down in this very street
not three weeks ago. With the remainder of my allowance I have purchased
this colt handgun with which I intend to bring in the killer, Tom Weekley.
If you want the job, Marshall Rooster, I suggest that you use some of this
money to begin living in a style suitable to your position.”
“Well, little lady, what might that be now?”
“Why, what else but a room at Oglethorpe House, where you not only live
close to campus, but can partake of the meals, the pool, the rec room and
many other delights. When you have done that, meet me at the corral and
we shall begin our expedition.”
“Well, you have found my price, Missy, but what I haven’t figured is, with
a pony, and that Colt 45, and all your True Spunk, what it is that you need
me for.”
“I need you to change my diapers. I am only three years old.”

Feathers were really flying
on Milledge Avenue early Wed

chickens squawked and ran

A heavily loaded poultry
truck went out of control, hit a
utility pole, and overturned in
the Kappa Sig's front yard. At
6:10 a m., the clamor of the
crash served as an unwel
