Flooding toll may climb
SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras (UPI) - Honduras
appealed to the United States today to send in flame
throwers to cremate bodies of the thousands of victims of
Hurricane Fifi to lessen the threat of epidemics. A U S
Peace Corps volunteer nurse said the threat of pestilence
was growing steadily.
The government has put the death toll at between 7.000
and R.ooo persons and the Honduras ambassador to Mexico
said it could reach 10,000. Today there were reports of new
victims in areas not previously known to have been flooded
but there was no accurate count.
The Cubans have set up a clinic at a former fairgrounds
and the U S Army has set up a command post at the
airport to direct rescue operations.
Tories, Liberals hit Labor
LONDON (UPI) — The Conservative and Liberal parties
Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Harold Wilson for
claiming a • dramatic" drop in inflation in Britain But
Wilson said his claim is accurate
“They say the inflation rate is running at 20 per cent. We
say it has been running at 8 4 per cent in the past three
months." Wilson said at his daily election campaign news
conference.
"We believe we shall be able to get it to settle down at
about 10 per cent by the end of 1975."
Conservative party Chairman William Whitelaw accused
the I^iibor government of "some cunning manipulation of
igures."
Liberal party leader Jeremy Thorpe said. "1 must say
the government is applying some plastic surgery to the
true figures This is the height of irresponsibility."
IRA bombs hit Ulster
BELFAST (UPI) — Four bombs exploded in different
shops in Londonderry’s Strand road area Tuesday within
minutes of each other, the army said
The army spokesman said the parcel bombs badly
damaged the shops and a nearby cafe but caused no
casualties. Army bomb experts defused a fifth bomb and
were dealing with a sixth, the spokesman said.
An anonymous telephone caller warned that police bombs
had been planted in the area and it was cleared. The
bombs exploded about 25 minutes later while troops and
police were searching the area.
Cypriot POWs exchanged
NICOSIA (UPI) — Greek and Turkish Cypriots Tuesday
exchanged another batch of prisoners taken during the
summer war to bring the number of freed prisoners to
more than 1,000.
This was about one-fifth of the total number of prisoners
Tuesday’s exchange, the second under the general
agreement fti'rclease all POWs. had been scheduled for 3
pm but began more than two hours late
Greek Cypriot officials who were waiting at the Ledra
Palace Hotel on the "Green Line" separating the
communities in the capital with 10 busloads of 285 Turkish
Cypriot prisoners said the Turkish side did not arrive until
after Red ('ross officials had gone into the Turkish quarter
to find out what was happening.
Rebels shell Phnom Penh
PHNOM PENH (UPI) — Rebel gunners fired a salvo of
Chinese-made rockets into Phnom Penh today, wounding
eight persons in the first shelling of the Cambodian capital
in more than a month
Police said four 107mm rockets crashed into the southern
section of the city at dawn, injuring two infants and six
other civilians.
The shelling came a week after a government
intelligence report said the insurgents were planning a
reign of terror in Phnom Penh to influence next month's
expected U. N debate on Cambodia
Students fight in Boston
BOSTON (UPli — Several fights between black and
while students broke out in the hallways of racially
troubled Hyde Park High School, but uniformed police
quickly pul dow n the disturbance today as violence marred
the ninth day of a court ordered plan to integrate Boston's
public schools.
Uniformed police called into the school by Headmaster
John Best patrolled the halls throughout the day The
seltool had reopened Monday after being closed for one day
last week because of violent clashes between black and
white youths
Communists re-emerge
ATHENS (UPI) — The Greek Communist party emerged
today from more than a quarter of century of illegality
with both praise and criticism of the government for
permitting political parties to operate openly
While expressing pleasure at the decision, it criticized
the government for asking that all parties submit a
statement with legal authorities of their attachment to the
principles of democracy and their opposition to its violent
overthrow.
"This puts limits to the function of the parties.' said the
newspaper Nea Ellada, which is acting temporarily as the
Communist party organ.
TV A calls for cutback
LUANDA, Tenn. (UPIl — The Tennessee Valley
Authority (TVAl, which supplies electricity to 2 4 million
customers in seven stales, called Tuesday for a voluntary
20 per cent cut back in power usage because of dwindling
coal supplies
TVA board chairman Aubrey J Wagner warned thai
rationing will be necessary if consumers refuse to willingly
reduce the amount of electricity they use
"We need immediate, voluntary help of every electric
consumer in the TVA power service area to cut back
around 20 per cent in the use of electricity in order to
stretch our scarce coal supply to meet the region's electric
energy needs this winter." Wagner said.
•"If voluntary efforts do not provide sufficient savings,
the only alternative will be more stringent measures which
could include some type of rationing or mandatory alloca
tion of power."
Efforts made to establish
PIRG in state's colleges

New fraternity
The campus chapter ol Zeta Beta Tau fraternity has moved to
a new house, due to a large increase in membership,
according to Al Bailey, president of the fraternity. The
fraternity began on campus in 1973 with two members and
presently has 20. Bailey said. Eight ZBT members are now
living in the new house. located at 745 South Milledge. The
fraternity signed a lease on the house, but "hopefully." Bailey
said, "we will be* able to secure option for purchase by next
year." Last year the chapter won an award for being the most
improved ZBT organization in the Southern United States.
Bailey attributed winning the award to “all phases of ZBT —
the new house, increased membership and social programs.”
ZBT was founded in 1898 and merged with Phi Epsilon Phi in

At the University, Bildner

By obtaining the signatures

Bildner said
Funding comes from volun
