Are you a loyal Georgia fan? Ten years from now, will you
still look back on those good ole days at the University*’ Do
you want to be a Bulldog forever 0 Then the Student Alumni
Association may be for you
Gary Plummer, the current President, says the SAA was
started seven years ago in order to better prepare the student
for the role of alumnus
Although going through a transitional period right now, the
SAA is looking for interested students who want to develop
better student alumni relations
In the past, the SAA has sponsored student-alumni golf and
tennis tournaments, seminars for graduating seniors and the
distribution of Nutshell magazine The SAA also helps sponsor
the production of senior class buttons
The SAA. however, is only one part of the entire alumni
organization Once graduated from the University, a person
can be an active member of the Georgia Alumni Society
and-or the Georgia Bulldog Club.
The Georgia Alumni Society, established in 1834, is totally
separate from the Georgia Bulldog Club. (An interesting point
concerning the Bulldog Club is that the checks given for
fund raising are made payable to the Georgia Student
Education Fund.)
The Georgia Alumni Society raises money for the academic-
area The money raised goes toward student scholarship
funds, faculty salary-supplement funds and operating costs of
the Alumni Society The Alumni Society receives no state
funds

the Society. Tyus Butler, director of Alumni Relations, said.
“Not to my knowledge
The operating costs of the Society include the publication of
the magazine, the Georgia Alumni Record, which is printed
six times a year, a newsletter, the "Alumni Memo.” and the
additional costs of running an office These costs include office
supplies, salaries, and a computer system which logs
approximately 120.000 names This number is only the number
of those ex students and graduates who have given correct
mailing addresses
There are two types of UGA alumni, according to Butler
There are those who attended the University, graduates and
non graduates, who are non-contributing members of the
Society These members receive the "Alumni Memo" two or
three times a year
The second group are those who contribute at least $10.00 a
year
The Georgia Alumni Society itself is divided into three
departments The largest is the Alumni Relations, headed by
Butler Butler is in charge of virtually all activities beyond
fund raising and basic office procedure.
Under his direction are the approximately 65 to 70 alumni
chapters throughout the nation, the quarterly and annual
Alumni Society meetings and the various publications put out
by the Society.
The second division is Development. This department deals
solely with fund-raising and the different levels of
contributions
The First Quarter Club is made up of those who contribute
from $35.00 to $00.00 Those who give between $100.00 and
$249.00 belong to the Century Club The Charter Club is made
up of those who give more than $250.00. A member of the
Praridantfl Club has pledged at least $10,000. which he can pay
in installments
The third division of the Georgia Alumni Society is Alumni-
Development Services This department takes care of all the
bookkeeping, mailing and general records of the Society.

A co-op program which
