nessee State are the teams to beat
"They are two of the better teams in the
country." Fox said. "We’re talking about two
top-10 caliber teams We treat each meet as an
important step toward the SEC cham

Dogs try to recover
from Kentucky loss
By KEVIN PROCTER
Red and Black AiiHUil Sporti Editor
The inexperience of the Georgia women's volleyball team
finally surfaced in a four game loss to Kentucky on Tuesday,
but the Lady Dogs must forget about the defeat as they host
Tennessee Tech at 6 p m. in the Women's P E Building
Coach Sid Feldman described the match with the sixth-
ranked Lady Kats as "the craziest I've ever seen."
Georgia took game one 15-12 before dropping the second
game 0-15.
Then an exciting third game ensued Leading 14-12, the
Lady Dogs had a chance to capture the game, but instead of
going for a kill. Georgia elected to dink, and as a result,
Kentucky prevailed. 16-14
“You don't dink on match oomt." Feldman exDlained
"You have to play hard-nosed and go after that last point."
A dink is a softly hit ball intended to catch the defense out
of position when you have the opportunity to spike
Feldman said his team froze in the final game which it
lost. 0-15
"The scores weren't really indicative of the match,”
Feldman said Kentucky is a great team and we are young
and havea lot of new people '
Laurie Henderson had 10 kills to highlight Georgia's play.
Henderson is one of the players counted on to replace one of
the four starters the Lady Dogs lost last season
"I'm pretty optimistic If this (Kentucky) is the best the
SEC has to offer, then we know we can play with them at the
end of the year." Feldman said.
Tonight, Tennessee Tech brings in a squad that stars two
girls from the Bohemian National team and mid-hitter
Kathy Brown, a player Georgia recruited heavily. Feldman
said
The Lady Dogs beat Tennessee Tech last season, but that
was w hen Georgia had three seniors and Tech had mostly
freshmen
"They've gotten a lot better," Feldman warned "We
can't take them lightly "
