For most former Georgia
players selected in the
National Football League
draft Tuesday, it was no
doubt a harrowing, nail-
biting experience
Of the six players selected,
(our went in the final two
rounds, and three* of those
w ent in the last round
Wide receiver-defensive
back Kevin Harris was
picked in the 11th round by
the Detroit Lions
All-American safety Jeff
Sanchez went early in the
12th and final round to the
Pittsburgh Steelers Mike

offensive and defensive
lineman during his tenure at
Georgia, was then picked by
Detroit Defensive lineman
Donald Chumley became the
last player selected in the
draft, going to the San
Francisco 49ers
Earlier in the day, All-
American placekicker Kevin
Butler became the first
Georgia player selected in
the draft, going to the
Chicago Bears in the fourth
round Tight end Scott
Williams was picked by the
St Louis Cardinals tn the
ninth
Former Georgia tailback
and Heisman Trophy winner
Herschel Walker was picked
by the Dallas Cowboys in the
fifth round However, his
current contract with the
New Jersey General of the
USFL makes it unlikely that
the Cow boys will sign him
Butler, who owns nearly
every Georgia kicking
record, left Tuesday to tour
the Bears facilities He will
be competing with Chicago's
current No 1 kicker Bob
Thomas
According to the Bears
special teams coach Steve
Kazor, Butler will be given
every opportunity to become
the teams' top kicker
"He was one of the top
guys in the draft,” Kozar
said. "Maybe better than a
fourth round pick His ob
vious strong point is his leg
strength The only negative 1
see is his adjustment from
kicking off a tee to kicking
off the ground "
Kozar added that the
Bears were not necessarily
looking to get a kicker but
