who came to see Lotion
■ AFTER HOURS
MOVIES ON CAMPUS
• June 1-2, Roger and Me: Review
by Noel Murray. A ground
breaking documentary about the
decay of Flint, Michigan after
General Motors pulled out. Quite
entertaining and very funny. A
unique film that is as much about
the line between art and life as the
pathetic effects of a depressed
economy.(****•)
• Midnighter, Flash Gordon: Flash!
Ah Ah, he’s the saviour of the
universe. Camp on Ming. (**)
• Sunday June 3, Chocolat: It's in
French.
• June 6, After Hours: A Martin
Scorsese film in which a computer
operator goes through a night of
hell. (***)
MOVIES IN TOWN
ALPS
• Joe Versus the Volcano: Tom
Hanks and Meg Ryan. I’m sure
you’ve heard enough about this
movie.
• The Little Mermaid: Last weekend
for this classic cartoon.!****)
GEORGIA THEATRE
• The Rocky Horror Picture Show:
Thursday, June 7. Oh boy, I can’t
wait.
CLASSIC TRIPLE
• Def By Temptation
• Blood Salvage
• Cadillac Man: Robin Williams
sells cars. (** 1/2)
GEORGIA SQUARE
• Pretty Woman: Another critic
labeled this film “Sin-derella,” and
that seems pretty apt. Rich guy
Richard Gere, on a lark, picks up
hooker Julia Roberts. Intrigued by
her, he hires her to act as hiB
companion for the week. All this
adds up to one of the most
delightful love stories I've seen in a
while. It’s funny, charming, and
quite sweet. (*** 1/2)
• Happy Togther
• Driving Miss Daisy: It’s a good
film, go see it already.!****)
• The Hunt For Red October: Sean
Connery, a big submarine, and a
lot of uptight government types.
What more can you want? (***)
• Back to the Future III: Marty
McFl/s got a gun. Kids don’t try
this at home.
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlee:
They’re still here, they’re still
turtles and they’re still fun for the
whole family. Don’t tell Action for
Children’s Television I said
that.!***)
• Wild Orchid
• Spaced Invaders: An alien movie.
No, not the kind with Sigourney
Weaver, the kind with cute little
kids.
• Firebirds: Helicopters, and lots of
pretty explosions, oh joy.
LEFONT BEECHWOOD
• The Handmaid's Tale: Special
Guest Hogai Nassery. Set in the
not so far-fetched future, it
describes every woman’s idea of
Hell. Fertility is the measure of
worth; clitorectomy is the only
thing missing from this society.
Rebels carry refugees to safety in
Canada, and Aidan Quinn is really
hot. A must-see for all you
chauvinists out there.!****)
• House Party: Kid 'N’ Play are 2
hype and still here. (***1/2)
• Bird on a Wire: Mel Gibson, Goldie
Hawn.
• The Cook, the Thief, Hie Wife and
Her Lover
— David Williams
