Who: The No. 16 Georgia Bulldogs (3-1, 2-1 in the SEC) vs. The
University of Arkansas (1-3, 1-1 in the SEC)
When & Where: Saturday at 12:40 p.m. EST in Fayetteville, Ark.
The game will be broadcast on Jefferson Pilot television.
The Coaches: Georgia’s Kay GofT is 22-17 in his fourth year in
Athens. He is 1-0 against ttie Razorbacks. Arkansas’ Joe Kines is in
his first season as the Razorbacks’ coach and has a record of 1-2, tak
ing over for Jack Crowe after a season-opening 10-3 loss to the
Citadel. ,
Facts: The all-time series is tied 2-2, and all four games were bowl
games. The teams last met Dec. 29 of last year in the Independence
Bowl, with Georgia winning 24-15 as Andre Hastings ran for one
touchdown and caught another en route to being named the game’s
MVP. Torrey Evans led the Dogs’ defense, with four tackles, an in
terception and a fumble recovery.
Running back E.D. Jackson led the Razorbacks with 112 yards
rushing and two touchdowns.
Georgia also beat Arkansas 20-17 in the 1987 Liberty Bowl.
Arkansas beat Georgia in the 1976 Cotton Bowl 31-10 and the 1969
Sugar Bowl 16-2.
Georgia is coming off a 37-11 victory over Ole Miss last week in
Athens, while Arkansas dropped a 22-6 decision at Memphis State.
