Asian cuisine for everyone
By KRISTEN CALLIHAN
For The Red and Black
The large array of Asian
food available in Athens is
enough to satisfy any crav
ing. There is something to
suit every palate, from
Chinese take-out junkies to
more adventurous sushi
lovers.
Due to the wide selection,
narrowing down the search
for delicious Asian fare can
be difficult. However, there
are some clear favorites that
have gained loyal student
patrons.
One such restaurant is Ru
San’s Sushi and Seafood.
Located off Alps Road, Ru
San’s offers a huge selection
of sushi and other Japanese
dishes. The restaurant is
popular with students
because of it’s extensive
sushi menu, which includes
everything from jellyfish
salad to vegetarian options
like teriyaki zucchini.
“I love Ru San’s. It’s the
best place to eat in Athens,”
said Kaylah Walker, a sopho
more from Atlanta.
Walker and friend Marini
Helton, also from Atlanta,
said that Ru San’s is by far
their favorite of all the Asian
restaurants in town.
On the East side of town,
students flock to Inoko
Express on Barnett Shoals
Road. A faster alternative to
hibachi style restaurants,
Inoko attracts customers
with its large portion sizes,
affordable prices and relative
quickness.
Inoko Express employee
Heather Sims said the most
popular menu item is proba
bly the chicken fried rice.
Inoko traditionally offers
customers two sauces — a
yellow, mayonnaise-based
sauce and a ginger sauce —
with every meal. But cus
tomer demand for the yellow
sauce prompted the restau
rant to implement a sauce
exchange policy.
A wealth of Asian cuisine
can be found downtown as
well. Doc Chey’s Asian
Kitchen on East Clayton
Street has a menu that
includes Chinese, Japanese
and Thai dishes. The menu
also accommodates vegetari
ans with tofu options for
many of the meals.
Aside from the restau
rant’s stir-fry dishes and
noodle bowls, there is an
eclectic assortment of appe
tizers, soups and salads to
choose from.
The dining room has long
tables with bench seating,
