Just ask Whitney Brandt, a sophomore from Roswell. She pays $50 a year to park in the lot behind the Baptist Collegiate Ministries building on North Campus. The BCM reserves these spots for members of their leadership team who live off campus. “It’s very convenient because all of my classes are on North Campus, and I can just cross the street,” Brandt said. Despite Brandt’s fortune, most students in Athens find that parking around campus can seem as difficult as encountering a friendly Georgia fan while wearing orange on game day. But parking is not as difficult as you might think. In fact, you may be surprised at the convenience of using what parking services, Athens Transit and the Downtown Athens Parking System have to offer. COLIN SMITH | The Red & Black A Parking downtown can get expensive over time. Parking Services controls six parking decks and two main pay lots on campus. The North, South, West, Hull Street, Carlton Street and East Campus decks charge 50 cents for the first 30 minutes and $2 for every additional hour. However, they will charge no more than $8 a day for each 24-hour period. Also, you can park at the East Campus deck and other designated decks for free > See PARKING , Page 10 UGA Students, Faculty, and Staff ride FREE wherever we go! cw/ugah» Visit Us online @ www.athenstransit.com or Call 613-3430 for Schedule and Route Information
