With the mass influx of students to Athens, the mail gets backed up for three to five days, said Patricia Bruce, a window clerk at the branch on Olympic Drive. To ease this process, Bruce recommends students submit a change of address card every time they move. “Even if they move from one apartment to the one right next door, they need to fill out a change of address, or their mail won’t be able to find them,” she said. There are five post offices in Athens. One is located in the Alps Shopping Center at 196 Alps Road, Suite 48. Another is located at 3700 Atlanta Highway, Suite 135, in the Georgia Square Mall. A third and fourth are located at 1695 South Lumpkin St. and 575 Olympic Drive, respectively, while the fifth one is the post office located on the first floor of the Tate Student Center.
