Issues of SGA decades old
By CAROLYN CRIST

The old adage states, “his

Student Government
Association's history has
been repeating itself for over
30 years.
Flipping through decades
of the The Red & Black's
archives reveals several of its
long-term issues: effective
ness, control of student activ
ity fees, student apathy and
the constitution.
“The root of (these issues)

Biggest turn on: Long, dark legs
Biggest turn off; Lack of motivation toward

If I was stranded on a desert island, I would
bring: Hair gel, running shoes and the girl
at Ramsey with the nose ring.
Why I Signed Up to be Man on the Market:
First and foremost, I’m tired of people
questioning my sexuality. I’ve got hot girls
wondering and way too many guys hoping
we can’t have that.
Second, I love DaVid Burch.
Third, my goals for this experience are
as follows: five dates, five amusing articles,
5,000 freshmen in love with me.
Fourth, I can’t decide which is better for
my self esteem looking at myself in the
mirror, or opening up the school newspaper
and seeing me, staring right back at me.
Finally, all kidding aside, chicks dig real

Lady Dogs top
LSU at buzzer
By TYLER ESTEP

University students had
a relaxing day off from class
es Thursday, but the No. 14
Lady Dogs basketball team
(19-4, 6-2 SEC) still put in a
day's work, hitting a buzzer
beater to top No. 7 LSU (20-
3, 6-2 SEC) 53-51 at
Stegeman Coliseum.
Freshman guard Ashley
Houts made a fadeaway
jumper as time expired,
seconds after LSU’s Sylvia
Fowles took the breath out
of the crowd by tying the
game at 51.
“I really didn’t want it to
go into overtime," Houts
said. “I just decided in a
split-second that it was
going in the hole.”
In a game dominated by
tough defense and low
shooting percentages, back
to-back 3-pointers by senior
Janese Hardrick and junior
Tasha Humphrey gave
Georgia its first lead of the
game at 41-40 with just over
eight minutes left to play.

Why I am the best date in Athens:
First of all, I excel in awkward situa
tions. and what date isn’t full of awkward
pauses and boring questions?
Second, I like to have flm. Whether the
date entails eating a fancy dinner, going to
a keg party or watching TV, I will probably
have fun doing all three assuming my
company doesn’t suck.
Third, I can hang with the guys.
Growing up with two brothers has taught
me how to take a punch. You won’t have to
hold your tongue around me.
I would say all in all, I am a pretty good
person to hang out with.

Then six consecutive
points from redshirt fresh
man Angel Robinson
extended the Lady Dog
lead.
But the Lady Tigers
mounted another run, tying
the game with six seconds
left before Houts, without
any timeouts left, drove the
length of the floor to score
the winning blow.
“With six seconds left you

Landers said. “She had the

Humphrey led the Lady

This was the fifth
straight win for the Lady
Dogs and moved them into
a tie with LSU for second
place in the conference.
