Fraternity pirates
host marrow drive

pirates want to use your
blood for a purpose.
Lambda Phi Epsilon fra
ternity will sponsor "The
Great Pirate Blood &
Marrow Drive," inviting
students to dress up, meet
a Captain Jack Sparrow
and watch the “Pirates of
the Caribbean” movies
while giving blood.
"One of our brothers
died because he needed
bone marrow, so now it's
our national philanthropy.”

The GMAT Mobile Test
Center, a fully-equipped
testing center on wheels,
steers onto campus today,
offering aspiring business
graduate students an alter
native testing site.

Students interested in
donating bone marrow can
sign up on a waiting list
registry. Because donors
and receivers must have
the same bone marrow
mass, the marrow will not
be removed until a receiver
is identified. Bone marrow
is often used to help leuke
mia patients. Each year
more than 30,000 people
are diagnosed with leuke
mia.
"Not a lot of people
know about bone marrow
donation. It’s very rare to
find a match, but if there is
one, that person can rely
on you.” Wen said.
Zettek, a Career Center
testing coordinator, said.
"There is no local Athens
GMAT testing facility.
(Students) have had to go
to Atlanta and Augusta."
The tour bus embarked
on its second national trip
in October and will visit 30
campuses by May.
The GMAT is a standard
ized test that is widely used
by graduate business pro
grams to screen applicants,
and is similar to the LSAT
He completed a drug
and alcohol program at the
University Health Center
by Dec. 12 and wrote an
essay about how his actions
affected others. He also will
complete 50 hours of com
munity service by April 4.
In his essay. Wallis wrote,
“On the night of the inci
dent I put myself in a com
promising situation that I
did not realize would have
such bad repercussions. I
didn't realize the conse
quences of being around a
narcotic such as cocaine
were so significant. There
is never a moment where I
don’t reflect on being in
that situation on that day."
Tamplin is no longer a
member of Delta Zeta
sorority. Former Kappa
Alpha chapter President
David Mize said Wallis is no
longer a member of Kappa
Alpha fraternity.
No ACC hearing was
scheduled for Tamplin
or Wallis as of
Monday.

there is only one day of
blood supply in hospitals.
