Protein crucial to lose weight, gain muscle
A lot of people know
you need to lift
weights to increase
muscle mass and lose
weight. But what about
the nutritional side of fit
ness? What about protein?
Without protein you
won't be able to increase
your lean body mass,
increase your metabolism,
or lose weight. Proteins
contain the building
blocks of muscular tissue.
If you tear your muscles
down through lifting and
don’t have the correct tool
to repair them, what's the
point of lifting? .
Longhorns claim victory over
men’s swimming and diving
Oil Stovall and Chris
Colwill each recorded two
wins to highlight No. 9
Georgia's efforts against
No. 1 Texas on Saturday at
the Lee and Joe Jamail
Texas Swimming Center.
The Longhorns defend
ed their home pool, posting
a 157-135 victory.
Stovall won both the
100- and 200-yard butterfly
races. He touched in 49.01
to take the 100 and in
1:47.32 to win the 200.
Colwill swept the 1- and
3-meter springboards with
430.12 and 459.89 points,
respectively. His 3-meter
score improved his Zone B
qualifying standard.
The Bulldogs also got
wins from Sebastien
Rouault in the 400-yard
individual medley and from

If you want to lose
weight or increase muscle
mass, you need to con
sume about one gram of
protein per pound of body
weight.
Don't worry about
“bulking up” here. One of
the key differences
between a mass-gain diet
and a fat-loss diet lies in
carbohydrate consump
tion, not protein consump
tion.

The Lady Bulldogs (9-0)
got a pair of wins each from
Aleksandra Putra, Kelsey
Ditto (an Austin native)
and Colleen Haase in
Friday’s win.
Putra took the 100-yard
backstroke, then won the
200-yard back. Ditto
claimed wins in the 1,650-
and 500-yard freestyle.
The Lady Bulldogs also
got wins from Chelsea
Nauta in the 200-yard
freestyle and from
Annie Broome in the
200-yard butterfly.

If Diaz attempted to
scare Glenn away, it didn't
work.
Diaz held a tournament
for potential walk-ons
and the winner was to
earn the final spot on
the Georgia roster for
the 1998-1999 season.
Glenn beat four men
but lost 7-6 in the third
set to Paul Kovelson in
the finals.
Glenn’s effort was
enough and Diaz decided
to keep them both.
Glenn played for the
Bulldogs from 1999-2003,
redshirting in 2000 after
tearing his ACL.
After the team won
two national champion
ships in 1999 and 2001,
Glenn was awarded a
scholarship in 2003
the year that he finally
broke into the starting
lineup and was named

of the NCAA tournament.
“My last year was

wanted to come back
as an assistant," Glenn
said.
"It was tough and we
got away from a lot
of things we were used
to.”
Glenn returned home
to Athens after teaching
tennis professionally in
Long Island, N.Y. and
Perth. Australia.
In the fall of 2005. Glenn
became the assistant
coach for the men’s tennis
team while working on his
master’s degree in
Organizational Develop
ment.
Glenn coached during
the day and took classes
at night before complet

is wonder whether Glenn
will ever leave Athens for
a head coaching job.
However, he isn’t ready
to leave quite yet.
“I could look at some
other places, but it
would be hard to leave
Athens."
Diaz doesn’t want
him to leave just yet
either.
“I’d love nothing more
than to see him stay on
and help our program
here. I’d do anything to let
him stay on,” Diaz said.
“I certainly see him as
somebody to be a head
coach if he wishes to
be. If I was looking for a
head eoqch I’d certainly
be interested in
