The detail was provided in a court filing Thursday as prosecutors argued that Madoff’s bail should be revoked and he should be sent to jail. They said the checks were fur ther evidence he Madoff wants to keep his assets away from burned inves tors. The judge now must decide whether Madoff should be sent to jail or remain free on bail in his luxury Upper East Side penthouse. Defense lawyers say bail should not be revoked because he is not a risk to flee or a danger to com munity. Investigators previous ly have said that Madoff planned on distributing more than S2OO million to close friends and family. Police say a bur glary ring has been stealing high-end tele vision sets from restaurants, throwing rocks through glass doors to gain entry and leaving with flat-screen TVs.
