Kupets named SEC’s best again
By MICHAEL
FITZPATRICK
The Red & Black
For the second straight
week the SEC bestowed its
own hardware on Gym Dog
senior Courtney Kupets by
naming her the SEC
Gymnast of the Week on
Tuesday.
Kupets dominated the
competition last weekend
as she won the all-around
title against LSU with a
39.65 and all four event
titles, with three scores of
9.9 or better. She posted a
9.95 on vault, a 9.925 on
bars and a 9.9 on the bal
ance beam.
She continued her tor
rid pace Monday as she
also earned all-around
honors against No. 3 Utah
with a 39.6 and apparatus
titles on the vault, bars
and floor with scores of
9.950, 9.975 and 9.925,
respectively.
Martinez leading candidate to fill defensive vacancy in Miami
By MICHAEL FITZPATRICK
The Red & Black
For all the Georgia fans demanding for
defensive coordinator Willie Martinez’s
dismissal, they may get their wish.
But not in the manner they expected.
On Tuesday, Oklahoma State head
coach Mike Gundy announced that for
mer Miami defensive coordinator Bill
Young had accepted the same position
with the Cowboys, leaving a vacant posi
tion in Coral Gables.

Her 9.975 on bars is her
highest score in any event

Kupets looks fully recov

Prior to Monday’s meet,
she was ranked first nation

with those rankings primed
to increase when they are
