Green Team’s parking ‘not practicable’
By PAIGE VARNER
The Red & Black
The Green Team’s Student
Government Association plat
form includes creating sched
ule-based parking passes,
enacting a graduated parking
fine scale and allowing stu
dents to park an hour earlier
at the Tate Center. However,
Parking Services Manager
Eton Walter said all these ideas
are not feasible for next year.
Art theft
remains a
mystery

As students and teachers
search for the 130 pieces of stu
dent artwork discovered missing
from the art building more than
a week ago, one University stu
dent didn't have to look very
hard to find a stolen piece.
Although most of the artwork
taken from the Lamar Dodd
School of Art has yet to be recov
ered, Ryan Malone, a senior
drawing and painting said
he found one of his friends' miss
ing prints outside the building
near a trash container around 9
p.m. on the night the art disap
peared.
According to the University
Police report, the art was taken
sometime between 5 p.m. on
March 29 and 7:30 the following
morning. .
“My good friend did a series
of prints,” Malone said. “I
noticed one of his prints was
next to a trash can. There were a
couple of others on the ground
around it. At the time, I had no
idea what was going on. I didn't
think he wanted to throw it
away, so I grabbed his and called
him the next day. He was
extremely happy.”
The friend, Colin Tom, con
firmed the piece Malone found
had been stolen from the art
school.
However, University Police
said Wednesday they have not
uncovered the perpetrator.
“There are no leads,’’
University Police chief Jimmy
Williamson told The Red &
Black. “But we’ve talked to a lot
of people. Typically, more than
one person knows what hap
pened. People need to know they
can call in and not give their
identity. Hopefully, someone will
come forward.”
Although Tom recovered his
work, many others have not yet
seen their missing property.

Graduate student launches Congressional campaign

One University student isn’t
just writing letters to his con

Russell Edwards, a student

University’s School of Law, is
running for Georgia’s 10th con

U.S. House of Representatives.
The 10th district includes both

Walter said Parking

that the Green Team did not

Secord’s opponent, Josh

Simrill was initially invited to sell
