Jasmyn Felice Jones, 21, was arrested and charged with battery, possession of marijuana, DUI, obstruction, hit and run, failure to obey traffic signs, driving on a sus pended license and reck less driving at the inter section of River Road and East Village Surface Road on Thursday at 10:06 p.m. Jones’ bizarre interac tion with police began when officers responded to a car accident near the Ramsey Center, accord ing to a University Police report. Upon arrival, the arresting officer saw Jones waving her arms in the air while she screamed, “I was the driver, I was the driver,” according to the report. When the officer tried to conduct field sobriety tests, Jones reportedly became argumentative and was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI drugs. The passenger in Jones’ vehicle reportedly told police Jones was smoking marijuana in the vehicle while parked in the East Village Surface Lot, according to the report. As the officers con ducted their investiga tion, Jones, who had been seat-belted into the back of the police cruiser, was able to remove the seat belt and climb to the front of the car. She then attempted to Jump from the car and run from police. Officers caught her and placed her on the ground, according to the report. While she was being restrained, the report states Jones bit an officer on the wrist, leaving red marks. In a search of Jones’ vehicle, the arresting offi cer reported discovering a suspected marijuana cigarette which tested positive for THC in Jones’ ash tray. University student Benjamin Walker Hampton, 20, was arrest ed and charged with pos session of cocaine, under age possession of alcohol and obstruction on Oconee Street on Saturday at 4:46 a.m. According to the Athens-Clarke County Police report, Hampton was arrested after officers responded to a fight. A couple of people involved in the fight were believed to have run toward Null's Space. When the arresting officer investigated that area, he saw a male run toward Steeplechase con dominiums, according to the report. Nearby University police then helped appre hend Hampton behind the apartments. Hampton, who report edly smelled of alcohol, then told police he had run because he was on probation and was afraid of getting in trouble for drinking, according to the report. When he was searched, officers found a “bag of a white powder that [the arresting officer] suspect ed was cocaine in his right pocket,” according and there's no telling what you can achieve New challenges. Although he told police he could not argue that he was in possession of it, Hampton said a “guy gave him money to buy a drink and he sus pects the cocaine was in with the money,” accord ing to the report. Student robbed near dorms A University student fell victim to an armed robbery on Baxter Street on Saturday at 2:30 am. According to a University Police report, the student told police an, unidentified male “came up behind him with a weapon and demanded all his cash” near the intersection of Lumpkin and Baxter streets. The victim said the assailant took $5 and a pack of cigarettes. The victim was not injured during the attack. Workers overcharge for drinks in Sanford Stadium Students have been ripped off by $4 bottles of water in Sanford Stadium for years. But when three employees raised the prices a little too high, things turned criminal. According to a University Police report, a warehouse manager for ARAMARK told police customers had com plained about ARAMARK employees overcharging for the drinks that they were selling in Sanford Stadium. After checking their money totals, the manag er determined three employees had over charged for the products. The employees were terminated on the scene, escorted from the stadi um and barred from all University property for six months.
