A look at Idaho State
By RACHEL G. BOWERS
The Red & Black
After starting the season with
a 32-3 win over Montana Western,
Idaho State has been on a seven
game skid and has been out
scored 249-109 in that stretch.
Under head coach John
Zamberlin, who spent 10 years as
head coach at Central Washington
before accepting the Idaho State
Job. the Bengais have struggled
mightily, registering just three
wins in Zamberlin’s first season
in 2007 —and just three wins
since.
Heading into Athens, .the
Bengais will play in front the
largest crowd they have faced
thus far in the season. Out of its
eight games, Idaho State has
played in front of a crowd of more
than 25,000 just once and in six of
its games, Idaho Btate has played
in front of a crowd of 8,600 or
less. Sanford Stadium holds more
than 92,000 fans.
“We are ready for a trip to
Georgia, who, like us, lost in over
time {last week] but they lost to
Florida,” Zamberlin said. “We are
watching them on film. Our guys
are excited about the opportuni
ty. This will be a great experience
and great memory.”
Zamberlin and the Bengais
are coming off an overtime loss
to Montana State and though
Georgia is the biggest opponent
they will face this season, Idaho
State has played at Oklahoma,
Oklahoma State, Boise State and
Arizona State since Zamberlin
arrived in 2007.
“They have played some really

years,” Georgia head coach Mark
Richt said. “I’m sure part of it is,
just the revenue that they will
generate from it, is part of the
reason why they’ll come that far.
I’m sure it makes sense for them
financially.”
Though the Bengais have not
played in front of a huge crowd
so far this season, the Football
Championship Subdivision team
has competed in front of those
types of crowds in the recent
past.
“It is going to be a great chal
