j LATE NEWS BRIEFS
Pontiff's Move To
Summer Residence
Delayed By Crisis
VATICAN CITY — Vatican
sources announce that His Holi
ness Pope Pius XII’s departure
for Castelgandolfo, previously
set for July 19, has been post
poned because of recent devel
opments in the Middle East
crisis.
Mid-July is the normal time
for the Pope’s move from Vat
ican City to his summer resi
dence in the Alban hills, 15
miles south of Rome. Vatican
sources said, however, that the
move has been postponed so the
Pontiff can remain in close con
tact with events as long as there
is a crisis.
There was nothing definitely
known on the length of the
postponement.

Of P. O. A. U.
PORTLAND, Ore., (NC) —
Oregon Methodists have gone on

lic schools to borrow tax-
purchased textbooks for their
studies.
There was some opposition to
the Red China resolution. A
minority report at the confer
ence urged further study of the
issue. A leading opponent of
the resolution, Max McMillen of
Grants Pass, said that “Red
China is the antithesis of the
Christian way of life.”
