Pupils of Augustas
Sacred Heart School

rection of Sister Mary Cecilia,
R. S. M., pupils of the first and
second grades at the Sacred
Heart School presented an inter
esting and entertaining playlet
as a feature of the Christmas
party given for the student body
by the Parent-Teacher Associa
tion.
The play, based on hte Religion
course for the second grade, was
in the form of a quiz program,
with Marilyn Stroup, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Stroup, a'pupil
in the second grade, playing the
leading role, that of the teaching
Sister who conducted the quiz.
The performance was given on
the stage of the school audito
rium and pupils of other classes
joined in the singing of Christmas
carols.
There was a Christmas tree,
and Santa Claus was present, in
person, to distribute gifts' to the
children.

Musical Production

AUGUSTA, Ga.—Rehearsals are
now in progress for the production
of the Gilbert And Sullivan op
eretta, "H. M. S. Pinafore”, which
will be presented by the Youth
Division of the Catholic Com
munity Center at an early date.
The ever-popular “Pinafore" is
being produced under the direc
tion of Miss Toni Gilman, promi
nent Broadway actress, who offer
ed her services free of charge.
Miss Gilman lists among her
credits such Broadway appear
ances as the current musical com
edy, “Follow the Girls”, George
Abbott's “Beat the Band”, and
more recently Agatha Christie's
“Ten Little Indians”. She has
played with many well-known
stage, screen and radio stars.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan
Stroup, of Augusta, was one of
the leading characters in a playlet
presented by pupils of the Sacred
Heart School in Augusta during
the Christmas season.
