and efficient service as financial
secretary of Patrick Walsh Coun
cil, Knights of Columbus, in Au
gusta, Georgia, Richard S. Heslen
has been honored by the Supreme
Council of the K. of C. by being
designated “Financial Secretary
Emeritus.” Mr. Heslen recently
resigned as financial secretary of
Patrick Walsh Council after serv
ing in that capacity for thirty-
seven years.

Dies in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga.—John Joseph
Holland, Sr., of Harrock Hall, sup
erintendent of the county mill,
died on October 10, after an ill
ness of several months. Funeral
services were held at the Ca
thedral of St. John the Baptist,
with Father Terence Kernan, O.
S. B., pastor of Our Lady of Good
Hope Chapel, at Isle of Hope, of-,
ficirting.
Mr. Holland is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Anne C. Holland; two
sons, John Joseph Holland, Jr.,
and William Grady Holland; two
daughters, Mrs. Anthony Walsh
and Mrs. Oscar Sikes. . two broth
ers, Dennis G. Holland and Harry
J. Holland, and eight grandchil
dren.
Frank t. wall
DIES IN SAVANNAH
SAVANNAH, Ga. — Funeral
services for Frank Thomas Wall,
who died October 16, were held at
the Cathedral of St. John the Bap
tist.
Mr. Wall was for many years a
member- of the detective division
of the Savannah Police Depart
ment, and after his retirement
operated a private detective
agency.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Helen G. Wall; a son, Frank T.
Wall, Jr., Baltimore: a daughter,
Mrs. J. T. Hague, Jr., Elizabeth,
N. J., and a sister, Mrs. W. T.
Werntz, Savannah.

FUNERAL IN SAVANNAH
SAVANNAH. Ga.—Funeral ser
vices for Patrick J. Glynn, contrac
tor of Richmond Hill, who was
drowned in the Ogeechee River on
September 26, were held at the
Cathedral of St. John the Bap
tist Father Joseph Ware officiat
ing.
A native of Ireland, Mr. Glynn
came to this country twenty years
ago and settled at Richmond Hill.
He and his brother-in-law, Eu
gene Edward Gregory, were
drowned when their bateau, load
ed with brick from an abandoned
rice mill, sank in the river.
Mr. Glynn is survived by his
wife and four children, as well
as three brothers and a sister in
Ireland.

DIES IN CHARLESTON
CHARLESTON, S. C.—Funeral
services for John Patrick Michel
former city alderman, who died
September 21, were held at the
Cathedral of St. John the Baptist,
Monsignor dames J. May, V. G.,
officiating.

Surviving are his wife, four
daughters, four sons, and twenty-
three grandchildren.

DIES IN FITZGERALD
FITZGERALD, Ga. — Funeral
services for Mrs. Marie Thomas,
who died October 9, were held at
St. William’s Church. Surviving
relatives are Thomas Elden Bur
ton and Mrs. O. W. Fletcher.
