St. John’s

HAPEVILLE, Ga.—The ladies’
Guild of St. John the Evangelist
Church in Hapeville, Ga., wish
to express their thanks to the
Sisters of Mercy for a job well-
done. These good Sisters have
now returned to l^hiladelphia
where they will resume advanc
ed study. We are very fortunate
to have such a high quality of
teachers.
Catechistical Classes for chil
dren attending public schools are
being conducted for three weeks,
June 6 through 24, at St. John’s
cafeteria from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00
a:m., Monday through Fridays.
At the opening of the school
in the fall St. John’s will be
staffed with Sisters of Mercy
for the first through seventh
grades. In addition to that the
next school term will have a
kindergarten. That group of chil
dren will have two lay teachers
who are capable and efficient
women for the job: Mrs. Juel
Clarke and Mrs. Janet Louth.,
St. John’s will also provide
recreational and entertainment
activities for their young folks.
Just recently a Junior Group was
started for the boys and girls
in high school, and a Senior
Group for young people out of
high school.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Walton,
Vice-President and President,
respectively, of the Confraterni
ty of Christian Doctrine, will
be delegates of that organization
at the meeting to Be held in Oc
tober in Savannah.
NOTICE
Summer schedule of Masses at
St. John’s, starting July 3, will
be: 7:00 - 8:60 - 10:00 - 11:15.
The women of St. John’s
went to Communion in a body on
Father’s Day, as well as the
young people in a body,
and offered their communion in
honor of all fathers.

services for Mrs. Elizabeth W.
Roane were held June 2nd at the

annah; two sons, Lt. Col. Nathan
A. Roane, Jr., of the U. S. Army,
Fort Benning, and Curtis B. Ro
ane of Lake City, Fla.; two broth
ers, Charles G. Wilkerson, of Or
lando, Fla., and Frank Wilkinson
of New York;., two g ran dchildren
and three nephews.
