Our principle interest last year
was urging voters to go to the
polls. Our aim this year is 100%
registration of our informed—and
we do mean INFORMED—Geor
gia Catholic women.
We also aim to encourage our
deanery workers to assist in the
to send to the hospitals to leave
them in the lobby of the Oliver
General and the Lenwopd Hos
pitals, tieing the Catholic maga
zines separate.
It was voted that the Resolu
tions of the Augusta Deanery be
revised by Mrs. Frank X. Mul
herin, Parliamentarian, Mrs. Dan
O’Connor and Mrs. Norman
Boatwi'ight and Miss Mary Sul
livan. The Resolutions will be
read in all parish councils meet
ings in September and if cor
rect they will be accepted at the
October Augusta Deanery meet
ing, the tentative date being Oc
tober 2. Mrs. James B. Mulherin,
chairman for Co-operating with
Catholic Charities, asked the
ladies to help make pads for the
Cancer Home in Atlanta. After
the close of the meeting, delicious
refreshments were served.

teaching of others in the use of
the voting machines when they
are requested to do so. A number
of women in the state took this
training course.
We will ask an awakening of
interest in the affairs of the Gov
ernment and urge our ladies to
join and take an active part,
where possible, in the League of
Women Voters program.
We are hoping for better at
tendance at the sessions of the.
Georgia Legislature and ask that.
our ladies conscientiously attend
their LOCAL city council meet
ings.
One of our Deanery Legislation
Committees is planning to organ
ize a study group to follow the
National Programme as outlined
by the National Committee on.
Legislation. Efforts are being
made to secure the assistance of a
Catholic lawyer in guiding this
group’s study of Georgia Legisla-.
tion.
It is rewarding to feel the in
creasing interest being taken in
Government at all levels by Cath
olic women in Georgia. We def
initely must work for laws which
promote and defend the Christian
way of life.
