clubs, parent-educator clubs, or
some other activity, there are
definite steps in its development.
For example, when the religious
discussion club program is launch
ed, the whole parish executive
board sets to work as a unified
team; the program is the concern
of the entire board. It is not the
sole or exclusive work of the dis
cussion club chairman, not some
thing about which the other board
members need not be concerned
or responsible. All members meet
together to experiment with ma
terials, techniques and simple or
ganization; to consider how to at
tract and interest men and women
in joining discussion clubs, how
to alert home visitors and helpers
for their particular work in enact
ing the methods adopted. They
plan Discussion Club Leaders
meetings, and by experience,
learn to solve difficulties.
A full executive board is essen
tial in planning the extent and
method of the Parish CCD Pro
gram, and in carrying it on, once
the entire plan has been initiated.
The Experience of a great num
ber of parishes throughout the
years, in various parts of the
country, shows that the Confra
ternity will progress if in every
parish the CCD Executive board
actively leads in this, necessary
apostolate. A CCD unit with an
active Priest-Director and active
Executive board Members gives
permanence and continuity to the
Parish CCD program. In many in
stances it revitalizes a parish as
it brings the laity with talent and
zeal to work together with their
priests for the cause of Christ.
Herein lies an excellent oppor
tunity for the talent and zeal of
the men and women of the- Geor
gia Laymen’s Association to find
fresh and effective expression.
CU Plans Law
School Expansion
WASHINGTON, D. . C.—Plans
for expansion and development
of the Law School of the Cath
olic University of America are
now underway, Most Rev. Bryan
J. McEntegart, rector of the uni
versity, revealed today (July 15).
Merged with Golumbus School of
Law a year ago, the Catholic
University School of Law is at
a downtown location, 1323 18th
St., N. W., and conducts day
and evening classes for graduate
students only. Dr. Vernon X.
Miller, former head of the Law
School of the University of San
Francisco, was recently appoint
ed Dean.
In line with the program of
expansion and development,
Bishop McEntegart announced
the appointment of three new
full-time faculty members who
will assume their teaching duties
with the beginning of the scho
lastic year, September 15.
In charge of the school’s basic
courses in public law will be
Arthur John Keeffe, Professor
of Law at Cornell University
Law School for 11 years and on
the faculty of that institution
for 15 years. Mr. Keeffe is a gra
duate of Cornell and of its law
school. During the academic year
1953-54, he was a visiting pro
fessor at the New York Univer
sity School of Law and prior
to that was President of the
U.S. Navy Court Martial Sen
tence Review Boai'd. A contribu
tor to a number of law journals,
Mr. Keeffe is on the editorial
staff of the Journal of the Amer
ican Bar Association. He is a
member of the bar in both Ten-
nesse and New York State.
To do a great and important
work, two things are necessary;
a definite plan and not "quite
enough time. —Victor Blau.
