BELMONT, N. C. — The regis
tration and orientation period
for college students at Belmont
Abbey College wil;l begin
Thursday, September 8, and con
tinue through Friday, September
16, according to the Very Rev
erend Bernard L. Rosswog, Vice-
President of Belmont Abbey Col
lege.
Freshmen day students will
register on September 8, with
Sophomore day students sche
duled for the following day, and
Junior and Senior day students
completing their registration on
Saturday, September 10. All
resident students will register
on Tuesday and Wednesday,
September 13, and 14, while
orientation tests for all Fresh
men will be given on Wednes
day, September 14, continuing-
through Thursday, September
15. All Seniors will meet with
their department heads and ma
jor professors on Thursday, Sep
tember 15, at which time Junior
and Sophomore tests will be
given.
The academic year will be for
mally opened on Friday morn
ing, September 16, with a Sol
emn Mass of Invocation in the
Abbey Cathedra], on the campus
at Belmont, followed by a stu
dent assembly at 11:00 o’clock in
the college auditorium. All
classes will begin on Saturday
morning, September 17, at 8:45
a.m.

ATLANTA, Ga.—Funeral serv
ices for Mrs. Ludwig Lacher were
held August 22nd at the Sacred
Heart Church, Rev. Father John
Emmerth officiating.
Survivors are Mr. and Mrs. J.
B. Lacher of Greenville, S. C.; Mr.
and Mrs. J. L. Lacher, Bradenton,
Fla.: Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Lacher,
Sister M. Bertille, Newark, N. J.,
and grandchildren.

STREET-PREACHING APOSTLE
Spending his ninth summer vacation street preaching among 1
the Tar Heels in the vast Infant of Prague mission’at Jacksonville,
N. C., Rev. Dr. John A. O’Brien of Notre -Dame University is shown
with a few of his listeners, young and old, as they gathered in front
of the Courthouse steps. Father O’Brien climaxed his mission by
baptizing six adult converts and- enrolled 25 in an Enquiry Class.

SIX NUNS INJURED
IN TRAIN WRECK
OKLAHOMA CITY, (NC) —
Six nuns, five from (Oklahoma
and one from Colorado, were in
jured in the wreck of the crack
San Francisco Kansas City-Flo-
1'ida special at Marked Tree,
Ark.
The five Felician -Sisters of
Oklahoma were on their way
from Ponca City, home of the
Motherhouse of their new south
western province, to Alabama
wthere they were to continue
their work hs missionaries to the
Negroes in and around Birming
ham.
The Oklahoma nuns were: Sis
ter M. Veronica who suffered
shock and a bruised left arm;
Sister M. Elizabeth, a bruised
face; Sister M. Gualberta, shock;"
Sister M. Boniface, shock, head
and arm bruises; Sister Superi
or M. Theonilla, head lacera
tions.
The Colorado nun was Sister
Elsa Marie of Loreto College,
near Denver. She suffered a
head injury. Her traveling com
panion, Sister Eleanor Clare of
Montgomery, Ala., was reported
not injured. Sister Elsa Marie
was treated at St. Bernard’s Hos
pital, Jonesboro, Ark., but the
Oklahoma Sisters were taken by
ambulance to Memphis, 50 miles
southeast for treatment.
