Committee chairmen ai’e mak
ing plans for the years’ work and
will report at an open meeting
for parishioners that is being
planned for early September.
As the weeks, months, and
years roll along, we never realize
how fast they go until some in
cident of change takes place. For
the past 20 years or more the
officers of the Holy Name Society
at the Shrine of the Immaculate
Conception in Atlanta have been
elected in December and install
ed in January. This; year the
membership changed its proced
ure to conform with National
Holy Name by-laws. The new
officers were elected in Maj^ and
took office, conducting their first
meeting after the 8 o’clock Mass,
Sunday, June 9th. The members
had previously attended Mass in
a group and received communion
in a body under the Holy Name
banner, ottering their communion
for the intention of the month—
Religious Vocations.
A portion of the June meeting
was devoted to awarding trophies
to the members of the bowling
team who the past year won the
city Sunday School and church
bowling league championship.
The trophies are very similar to
those awarded last year—6-inch
Noblgol Figures of a bowler in
action, mounted on an inlaid
wood base. Each trophy is about
9 inches high and bears the in
scription “Immaculate Concep
tion—Champs 1956-1957’’ with
the recipient’s name engraved on
his award. They are very beauti
ful and will be a lasting reminder
of the occasion of this outstand
ing accomplishment.
The next Holy Name Sunday is
July 14th. At the Shrine of the
Immaculate Conception the mem
bers will assemble shortly before
the 8 o’clock Mass as usual. If
you are vacationing . plan yoiir
trip so that you don’t miss Mass
on Sunday and arrange to atteild
the Holy Name Mass wherever
you are. Those who have already
had their fun. frolic and festivi
ties or who are going later in the
summer will be expected to be
present with the Society.—J. AL
