tions wherever it is possible to

agricultural nature.
Meeting Of
Sacred Heart PCCW
AUGUSTA — The October
meeting of the Sacred Heart P.
C. C. W. was held in Our Lady
Of Mercy Hall. The recently re
novated parish hall was dedicated
to Our Lady of Mercy, on Sep
tember 24. The Sisters of Mercy
of Sacred Heart Convent, and the
students of Sacred Heart School,
and parishoners attended the
Mass and dedication of the hall.
The council voted unanimously,
to furnish drapes for the hall.
Mrs. Rosalie Bruggeman, par
ish chairman for the Augusta
Deanery Clothing Depot, reported
that three hundred garments were
distributed during September.
Mrs. F. B. Pope announced that
the Altar Society was sponsoring
a turkey dinner on November 3.
Mrs. Gardner Byrd is ticket chair
man.
Mrs. Helen Evans, youth chair
man, stated that the members of
the Sacred Heart Youth Club
would receive Communion, in a
body, on October 27. The ladies
of the P.C.C.W. will serve break
fast, in the school cafeteria, after
Mass. This is part of the program
for National Youth Week.
Mrs. D. J. O’Connor reported
that the study club was meeting
on the first and third Tuesdays of
each month. The topic for this
series is the Bible.
Mrs. C. M. Pelonero made an
urgent appeal for worn linens.
She reported that 523 articles
were sent to Our Lady of Perpet
ual Help Cancer Home last
month.
Miss Pauline Peuffier asked all
members to participate in the
Round the Clock Rosary on Unit
ed Nations Day.
Mrs. Norman I. Boatwright,
president of the Savannah Dioces
an Council of Catholic Women
presented a series of slides and
gave a commentary on the frame
work and operations of the Na
tional Catholic Welfare Confer
ence, and the National Council of
Catholic Women.
The meeting was closed with
the recitation of three Hail Marys
for the Canonization of Mother
Seton, and a Hail Mary for the'
intentions of Bishop Thos. J. Mc
Donough.

Services In Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. — Funeral
services for Augustave D. Laffi
teau were held September 24th
at the Church of the Most Blessed
Sacrament, Rev. Thomas A. Bren
nan, officiating.
Survivors are two daughters,
Miss Lucille Laffiteau and Miss
Henrietta Laffiteau; one son, An
drew J. Laffiteau; and several
nieces and nephews.
