Baseball season had it’s formal
opening last week with North
Georgia capturing two games from
the West Georgia Braves. It ap
peared as if the Braves had the
better team and a turn of fate
caused them to drop the first
game, Thursday, 9-2, and Friday’s
6-1.
Critics asserted that West Geor
gia would have a good nine as soon
as the players had more practice
and settled down. Last season the
Braves made an impressive show
ing, finishing second in the north
ern division of the Junior College
loop. Coach Taylor states that
many players from last season s
team have been retained and the
prospects from the new “crop”
look just as bright.
Dick Grace led the batting of
Thursday’s game for West Geor
gia and Fuller Gordon captured
all laurels in Fridays game, getting
two hits out of three times at
bat. One of these hits resulted
in a home run because of an error.
