Red Scare hits UWG Cafe coming soon to UWG

gia, but the Russian Debate Team
is! On October 21-23, the Russian
National Debate Team will be on
West Geoigia’s campus to debate
the issue of “Should Russia be of
fered and should Russia accept full
membership in the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization?”

The never ending student sug
gestions for improving campus life
has paid off again. The third floor of
the Student Center is undergoing
construction preparing for a cafe
featuring Starbucks coffee,
Freschens yogurt, and a gourment
sandwich shop. Students seem to be
excited about anew place to hang
out on campus. Bret Fielder, presi-

biking club, commented,
"I'm glad to see this school
growing and adding more services
for the students. Bringing a cafe to
the campus will helpcreateatrendier
atmosphere for West Georgia."
Jim Ennis is also in favor of the
cafe, especially considering the cafe
will be brewing Starbucks coffee.
Ennis remarked,
"After spending two weeks in
Europe and experiencing gourment
coffee, it will be nice to have an
equivalent near by."
Melanie Nelson, marketing di
rector of the auxilary services, has
been one of the many working long
hours to make and keep UWG's
students comfortable.
"Our purpose for being is our
students and serving their needs is
our primary goal," says Nelson."

University. “I am pleased that the
Career Services Office can provide
this system for our students,”
Director of Career Services, Dr.
Bruce Brewer stated. “At their
convenience, students can find out

coming campus recruitment and
career events.”

As if the cafe wasn't news
enough, a Student Center mall is in
its planning stages even as you read.
The mall will have a TV lounge, a
computer store, convience store,
newsstand and a gift shoj>. This new
addition should be completed win
ter quarter.
The hours of the soon arriving
cafe will be Bam-11pm, seven days
a week in order to allow everyone
an opportunity to enjoy their new
niche on the campus. Nelson stated,
"We want to offer the students
of the university a place that's fun
and convenient - open hours they
need - that reflects their taste and
their needs."
