After failing to score
in three consecutive games
and battling injuries, the
Wolves faced Christian
Brothers in a game that
would determine whether
or not they would advance
to the post-season for a
second consecutive season.
Even though the Wolves
were on the road in Mem
phis, TN. they battled their
way to a 2-0 win to clinch
a spot in the post-season.
“I’m as proud as I can
be of our girls,” said head
coach Marisa Kovacs. “We
played really well despite a
few injuries and I’m really
confident in all of my girls.
No matter who we put out
there, there is no drop in
the amount of heart and
desire and talent,” contin
ued Kovacs.
Kovacs, in her first
year as head coach, inher
ited a team that had lost
several key offensive play
ers from a year ago but still

After a rash of inju
ries in the weeks prior to
Sunday’s game against
Christian Brothers, the
Wolves had a week off to
get healthy for the sea
son finale. However, even
with the week off, the
Wolves were still with
out starting forward Erica
Harvey.
The Wolves were also
forced to play without an
other starting forward,
Brittany Carr, because she
received a red card in their
last game which carries a
one game suspension.
Even with the injuries
and a three game scoreless
drought, the Wolves man
aged to score two goals.
The first goal came in
the 32nd minute on a pen
alty kick by Alex Udin, her
sixth of the season. The
penalty kick was given
after Christian Brothers'
keeper pulled down Donna
Evans on a breakaway.
The Wolves contin
ued to attack CBU, and
just one minute after the
first goal UWG’s Adrienne
Phillips tacked on a second
goal to give the Wolves a
commanding 2-0 lead.
Phillips’ goal was assisted
by Melissa Hastillo.
From that point for
ward the Wolves played
swarming defense, holding
Christian Brothers to just
three shots and pitching a
shutout for the eighth time
this season. The shutout was
also the sixth of the season
for freshman Jennifer Ross.
The regular season fi
nale win gives the Wolves
a record of 9-6-1 and a
Gulf South Conference
record of 4-3-1. With the
win the Wolves clinched
the four seed in the GSC
tournament and will face
the top-seeded Argonauts
of West Florida. Game
time is set for 2:30 p.m. on
Friday afternoon.
The Wolves played
West Florida just once
this season on October 15
in Pensacola, FL.. and lost
2-0.
