Promising student and future coach involved in fatal accident

UWG lost a promising
student last week when
Andrew Brown of
Decatur, Ga, flipped his
car on Old Camp Church
Road last Thursday,
around 2:22 a.m. Brown
was not wearing his seat
belt and was thrown from
the vehicle, according
to police. Brown was
driving home from his
fraternity house.
In addition to the
West Georgia suffers another tough loss on the road

Already playing in
their third road game of the
season, the Wolves were
prepared to endure battle
in a hostile environment
at Setzler Field. However,
West Georgia suffered their
third straight loss against
No. 11 Newberry, losing
64-9.
Newberry showed
why they were the 2006
South Atlantic Conference
Champions as their
dominant offense scored
on the first three drives
of the game. The Wolves
defense could not contain
the Newberry offense,

Brown's Pi Kappa Alpha
fraternity brothers went
to a Braves game last
Friday and placed a jersey
on an empty seat to show
their respect. Brown was
heavily into sports, with
dreams of teaching and
coaching students when
he graduated.according to
Chris Kelly, a roommate.
A physical education
major, Brown spent his
free time coaching a
local basketball team
at the recreation center
in Carrollton last year.

halftime, the Wolves
already trailed 30-0 and
got a preview of what
the rest of the night
would be like.

twice, first on a kickoff
return, then later on a
nine-play drive. But
after Wolves linebacker
Ty Morrell blocked the
Indian's PAT following
a previous touchdown,
the Wolves gained
some momentum.

Brown’s friends said
he also participated in
soccer, softball, flag
football,ultimate Frisbee,
and any other intramural
sports he could get his
hands on.
Philip Crawford,
one of Brown’s fraternity
brothers and close friends,
summed up the emotions
felt by many by saying,
“He was a great guy. The
type of guy who'd do
anything for you.be there
for you, and do anything
you needed - just a very
caring individual.”

Quarterback Keats
Baldwin scored on a
two-yard dive, finally
putting the Wolves on
the scoreboard.
Unfortunately,
the touchdown was
just about all the
offense the Wolves
put up for the night
as the Indians forced
five turnovers and
converted them into
28 points. Newberry
racked up 386 yards
of offense and Haynes
rushed for 150 yards
on 20 carries with one

touchdown.
With starting running
back James Kennebrew' out
with an injury, sophomore
Joey Harris gave a strong
effort rushing for 97 yards
on 11 carries, the most yards
in one game this season by
a UWG running back.
The Wolves fall to 1-3
on the season and remain
0-1 in the Gulf South
Conference. Homecoming
festivities will highlight
the GSC match up with
Henderson State as the
Wolves Ux)k to rebound and
get back on track.
The game will be
played on Saturday at 2
p.m. at Grisham Stadium,
and admission is free with
student ID's.
