Gitaroo-Man Lives
Sony PSP
Originally released on
the Playstation 2 in February
of 2(X)2, Gitaroo-Man was a
game that flew under the radar
of pretty' much everyone. It
wasn't until the realization
that there were only a limited
number of copies in existence
that collectors ran to their
local stores and snatched up
copies, in effect creating a cult
following of the game. While
reprintings of the game can
easily be found today to the
dismay of hardcore collectors
and joy of curious players.
Gitaroo-Man has recently
resurfaced in the fomt of a
PSP port entitled Gitaroo-Man
Lives! for all to enjoy once
again.
Players that have
experienced the zaniness of
the original Gitaroo-Man on
the PS2 will know exactly
what Gitaroo-Man Lives!
holds. They may feel that
plopping down the money
again for the same game may
be difficult, but for players
still searching for that fun PSP

game, it could be well worth
the reinvestment.
In Gitaroo-Man Lives!,
players control the socially
awkward boy U-l as he
competes for the heart of
his secret crush. But as most
coming of age stories go, U
-1 must undergo a series of
difficult tasks to transform
into the strong willed person
that everyone wants him to
be. It just so happens that those
difficult tasks are participating
in intergalactic guitar battles
w ith nefarious foes.
Despite being the socially
awkward loser on Earth, U-l
s<x>n discovers that his dog isri.f
exactly what it appears to be
and informs him that he is the
last hope for planet Gitarxxr as
the chosen legendary musical
axe wielding hem, Gitanxv
Man. Literally minutes later,
U-l and his dog Puma are
zooming through space on
a quest for truth, justice, and
righteous guitar-wailing
music.
Unlike most musical
games, Gitanxr-Man
Lives! manages to create a
surprisingly decent plot and
run w ith it. Colorful and quirky
characters flood the game and
keep the action lighthearted
and fun until players groove
their way to the final song.
But as colorful and creative
the game is, it'?N the music in
Gitaroo-Man Lives! that will
have players tapping their toes

Your favorite TV show
may be in danger. On Nov. 2,
the Writers Guild of America
called for a strike effective
Nov. 5. Although negotiations
continue with the Alliance of
Motion Picture and Television
Pnxlucers, many see only
one option: picketing. If the
writers walk out, many shows
will stall, the first being daily
shows and live talk shows.
Most pnxluction companies
hold several scripted episodes
in reserve, but the spring

Performed by Japanese
rxxk band COIL, the in-game
music encompasses various
musical genres such as heavy
metal, acoustic, samba jazz,
and techno in order to reach
all fares of music. These songs
are well-performed and can be
so addictive that when players
are not playing through the
game, they.’ll be searching
and listening to the gained
soundtrack as well.
Whether a Gitaroo-Man
veteran or a complete newbie,
this game otters plenty for all.
New players will of course find
the single-player a rewarding
;tnd creative experience, but
veteran players w ill find anew
Duel Mode with two brarxl
new songs that rival any of the
original ones. On top of that,
the ability to play multiplayer
over Wi-Fi axild be fun for
the slightly more hardcore fares
that aren't quite ready to give
up the Gitamo ghost just yet
While most players are
just now getting their Linds

season would be nonexistent.
Reruns and news coverage
will become more common,
as well as reality shows, as
they are nirt covered by the
WGA.
Motion pictures will
remain relatively unaffected,
unless the strike lasts
through the summer. Studios
already have a year .k worth
of scripts, so pnxluction
should continue with little
hassle. However, unless
the WGA and the AMPTP
compromise, the industry
will suffer a substantial drop
in pnxluctions as early as next
fall.

Major issues for the
strike include DVD payments
and fair compensation for
online distribution. According
to the guild ’s website, writers
receive minimal percentages
for publications, as low as
four cents per DVD si rid.
However, the demands of
WGA have fallen on deal
ears.
“The studios made it
clear that they would rather
shut down this town than
reach a fair and reasonable
deal.” said Patric Verrone,

episirdes prove the grayest
area of them all. Such new
technology has yet to be
quantified or split according

director and writer of “Man

compromise can be achieved
with a mixlem mindset.
“What we need is for
people to sit down and say,
.’lt ’s a situation that 's difficult
to understand; we'.'re dealing
with changing technology. ...
Let's address it and find an
equation by which writers,
directors and actors can move
down that road in some kind
of equitable fashion.?”
