“Augusta” . . .
Congratulations . . .
Editor:
Mrs. Ernest Dinkins has very kindly
sent me clippings of your paper in
which you used excerpts of my book of
peotry, “Augusta”, on which Frank
Christian and I collaborated.
I am delighted that the verse was used
in such a hospitable way, because that is
the way I felt about our town when I
wrote it, at least ten to twelve years ago,
I am told that we still give a feeling of
hospitality to people who visit here, and
I am glad the poetry is still valid.
I also enjoyed reading the many
iiispirational articles in your paper, and
feel that if our nation could become
more God-oriented, many of our
problems in all directions could be
solved.
Best wishes to you as you continue
your work in helping people to remain
aware of their creation in His Image,
and of His continuing Presence in our
lives.
Sincerely,
Nopi Barnard
Augusta

Congratulations on the “Best Front
Page” Award which the Southern Cross
recently received from the Catholic
Press Association. This is especially
meaningful since it marks the fifth time
our Diocesan newspaper has received
this award.
We in the Diocese of Savannah are
indeed fortunate to have such an
excellent publication to keep us up to
date on the news of the Catholic world
and we are grateful to its Editor and
staff for the great job they are doing.
Sincerely,
Mary H. Broderick
