Positive Message To Schools
OUTDOOR MASS FOR THE BROWNIES — Fr. William O’Neill,
pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, Savannah, gives a homily under
the trees during an outdoor Mass he celebrated for members of
Brownie Troop No. 10 and their families at Rose Dhu Island recently.
The troop, which is sponsored by Blessed Sacrament parish, par
ticipated in a family camping trip at the Girl Scouts’ Camp Low, which

MOST IMPROVED STUDENT — Nativity Parish (Savannah)
Women’s Council presented Cindy Castro with an award for being the
most improved student at St. Mary’s Home in Savannah. Left to right

The Rev. Claude McBride, Chaplain of
the Georgia Bulldogs, spoke as “Happy
Calhoun’’ at Macon’s Mount de Sales
Academy. One of the nation’s leading
motivational speakers, McBride was
presented at Mount de Sales Academy by
the Key Club and the Kiwanis Club of
Macon.

Associate director of alumni relations at
the University of Georgia, McBride makes
scores of speaking appearances nationally
each year as “Happy Calhoun.” Calhoun is
a north Georgia mountain character
created by McBride. Through his
humorous presentation McBride leaves his
audiences motivated to be the very best
they can be.
While a Pulitzer prize-winning jour
nalist, McBride entered the seminary and
served for many years as a Baptist pastor,
his last church being Athens’ Milledge
Avenue Baptist Church. He was then hired
by the University of Georgia where he also
continues to serve as chaplain pf the
Georgia Bulldogs.
ALMA EASTER — Fr. Michael Lubinsky, pastor of St. Raymond’s,
Alma, is pictured with his flock of young people who make up part of
his congregation. The children were treated with Easter baskets made
up by Mrs. Loretta Crapps, one of his talented parishioners.
Washington Youth Pilgrimage
A Youth Pilgrimate to the National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and
monuments in Washington D.C. and to the
Marian Shrine in W. Haberstraw N.Y.,
with visits to West Point and other scenic
places, is planned for June 29 to July 2 for
youth age 13 to 17, or Grades 8 through 12.
Cost $100.00 per person. Bring pillow,
sheets and towels; casual clothes except
