in the 1960’s, and Father Wilfred M.
Dumm, O.S.B., who has served on the
Benedictine faculty since 1967, were
recently honored by their order in Latrobe,
Pa.
Archabbot Egbert is one of 13 Benedic
tine monks of St. Vincent Archabbey in
Latrobe who are observing anniversaries
of their priesthood ordinations. He is
celebrating 50 years in the priesthood.
Father Wilfred is one of 11 Benedictines
observing anniversaries of their religious
professions as monks. He is celebrating
the 50th anniversary of his profession.
The jubilarians were honored May 17
with a Mass held at St. Vincent Archabbey
Basilica. The Rt. Rev. Paul R. Maher,
OSB, was the principal celebrant, and
received the jubilarians’ renewal of vows.
Archabbot Egbert taught at Benedictine
and served as Headmaster at the school
and as Prior of Benedictine Priory in
Savannah in 1967. He is “currently enjoy
ing an active retirement,” according to a
spokesperson for the Archabbey. Fr.
Wilfred joined the Benedictine faculty in
1967 and was named Procurator of
Benedictine Priory in Savannah in 1988. He
has been author of the monthly prayer in
“The Ensign,” which is a publication of
the United States Power Squadrons, since
1984. He is also the author of a number of
scientific articles published in “026 True,”
which is a boating publication.

Ecumenical Prayer Gathering
The Very Rev. and Mrs. David B. Collins
will speak at an ecumenical prayer gather
ing to be held the Vigil of Pentecost, Satur
day, June 2 in the Hall of St. Williams
Parish on St. Simons. Praise will begin at
7:30 p.m.
In a talk entitled “Unity—the Hope and
Promise of Pentecost” Dean and Mrs. Col
lins will tell of their experience last
Pentecost when Protestant, Pentecostal
and Catholic leaders met in Jerusalem to
intercede for Christian unity.
In 1984 Dean Collins took early retire
ment as dean of St. Philips Episcopal
Cathedral in Atlanta in order to devote
more time to both ecumenism and the
charismatic renewal. He was subsequent
ly elected president of the House of
Deputies of the Episcopal Church in the
United States. In 1982 Dean Collins
represented the American Episcopal
Church at a meeting in Rome with
members of the Roman Curia and
representatives of Anglican churches.
Music will be by members of the Alleluia
Community from Augusta.
NUPTIAL MASS at Our Lady of Guadalupe Center — During a Nup
tial Mass in Hahira, Georgia, Magdaleno Garcia and Maria deJesus
Rosales, both Migrant Workers from Mexico, were joined in marriage
on Sunday, May 13. Celebrant of the Mass and officiant of the Sacra
ment of Matrimony was Fr. Adolfo Guzman, formerly of Cuba and now
living in Puerto Rico. He was assisted by Fr. Lawrence Lucree,
Pastor, St. John the Evangelist Church, Valdosta, of which Guadalupe
Center is a mission. During the Nuptial Mass, as part of their tradi
tions, co-workers placed a large rosary over the shoulders of the couple
and lighted candles in their hands.
