Savannah 2000 retreat
The challenging message of Pope John Paul II,
calling all young people to bear witness to the
faith, is being spread through a special retreat
sponsored by the Diocese of Savannah Vocation
Office, called Savannah 2000. This retreat is the
same format as the popular Youth 2000 retreats,
but with a different name. By means of this
Eucharistic retreat, Savannah 2000 is responding
to this call to prepare young people to live and
proclaim the Gospel of Christ, who is the Way,
the Truth and the Life. Savannah 2000 will help
strengthen participants’ love for Jesus in the
Holy Eucharist, deepen their love and devotion
to Our Blessed Mother, and participants will
learn more about the great treasure which is our
Catholic faith. On November 17-19, all young
people, ages 13-30, are invited to attend the
Savannah 2000 Retreat in Augusta at Saint
Teresa of Avila Church. During the retreat,
young people will spend time in prayer, adora
tion, singing, listening to lively talks and sharing
with other youth. The retreat Friday night is from
6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday from 8:00 a.m.
to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. The fee for the retreat is $20, which
includes lunch and dinner on Saturday. Financial
assistance is available to those in need. All are
welcome.
