The Face: Jesus in Art set to air

ways in which Jesus has been represented in art will air on

Jesus Christ with narration by Edward Hermann, Patricia
Neal, Stacy Keach and Mel Gibson. The program was made

Bishops’ committee wants to hear from laity
66 r T'he U. S. Bishops’ Committee on the Laity wants to hear from you,”
1 reads the announcement. But not if you are a bishop, priest, deacon, or
religious. From now through May 13, a survey of lay Catholic opinion is
being conducted on-line by the Committee on the Laity of the National Con
ference of Catholic Bishops. The Internet approach, a first in the American
Catholic history, is aimed at gathering the widest possible response. The goal
of the survey, according to Bishop John J. McRaith, chairman of the commit
tee, is “to solicit thoughts and ideas from lay people around the country about
how the Church can better help them connect their faith with their everyday
lives.” Its results will be used by the committee in its focus on the call of the
laity in the world. Questions on the survey represent the six dimensions of
adult faith formation content from the recent bishops’ document, Our Hearts
Were Burning Within Us. Individuals with computer access can find the web
address, www.laysurvey.org, and follow the instructions to participate. They
may choose English or Spanish as the language of response.
