LETTERS TO EDITOR TO THE EDITOR: This is the first time that I’ve ever taken the time to answer any newspaper article - I just don’t have that kind of time. For your information, I travel seven states, do about 35 to 40 thousand miles a year, have been doing that for over 20 years, and I have NEVER had an accident - with one excep tion, and that was when some one banged into my car, while It was parked. I am sure that Person didn’t have any religious statues in his car. If he had, Perhaps he would have left hfe name and address - as it turned out I had to pay for the repairs °n that. So much for that. "CAR STATUE Heresies”, I just don’t know what you mean by "heresies”. Every car I get is not only blessed by a Trap- 'pist (usually Father Abbott is he is at home) and baptized, either St. Benedict or St. Rap hael (Little Benedict or Little Raphael). So, my highly hereti cal car takes me all over the south, and to top it off, I have six different statues in my car in different spots - yet you say that "experts” say statues on dashboards have caused serious accidents. I wonder why you don’t mention just what acci dents. "Its about time....dis carded the idolatry of the auto mobile statue.” Since when are statues con sidered to be idolatrous? For that matter, lets discard the "heresies” of Our Blessed Mo ther's Statue in all churches. And lets take your "tip” and, as you said, "if one feels the Gets Gold Medal SAINT - ETIENNE, France (NC) —This city has given its gold medal to Catholic philoso pher-writer Jean Guitton. The only Catholic layman to be nam ed an official observer at the Second Vatican Council by His Holiness Pope John XXIII Guit ton received the honor from the city’s mayor in a ceremony at the town hall "for having brought such an honor to his fellow citizens." need of spiritual protection...” If that is the best you can do, my suggestion to you is to stop your "Reapings atRandom,”as they are offensive to every bone in my body. MY "LITTLE Raphael” will take me throughout the state of Florida, starting tomorrow — statues and all, and for that I thank the Good Lord in Heaven, for the protection of those "heresies” that abound in my car - and which have never been the cause of a "serious accident” in over 20 years of driving. And don’t forget that I am only a woman that does the work of three men, statues - idolatrous faith in the Saints and Holy Angels, but I thank God for the faith He gave me, and I don’t try to belittle the pro tection those "idolatrous” things have given me through the years. I doubt if I will continue my subscription. FRANCES BALFOUR ATLANTA HER RELATIVES GERALD ST.
