STUDENTS at St. John Seminary, Little Rock, Ark., dramati zed the historical and religious link between Judaism and Christianity, by celebrating the Passover, a Jewish ritual. The seminarians ended the service with the Last Supper, in which, the Rabbi, Jesus, ate the Passover meal with his disciples. Above, seminarian John B. Deal enacts the role of the Rabbi by offering the wine according to Jewish custom and the book of the Seder. OF LAST SUPPER Passover Ceremony Precedes Liturgy OTTAWA (NC)—A Catholic seminarian enacted the Jew ish Passover ceremony here on Holy Thursday just before the traditional Catholic lit urgy of the Last Supper. The Passover ceremony was presented in the rotunda of the administration building at' the University of Ottawa by Brother Vincent Goldstein, O. M.L, a 33-year-old convert to Catholicism now studying for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Scholasticate of the Oblate ord er. AN HOUR later the liturgy of the Last Supper was cele brated by Father Louis de Gon- zague, O.M.I., students’ chap lain, in the main chapel in the LARGEST ADOPTERS same building. Garbed in the cassock and cross of an Oblate scholastic, Brother Goldstein enacted the simple Passover ceremony as celebrated by Christ during His life on earth. A choir of Brother Goldsteins’s fellow scholastics sang the Passover psalms, while he explained the cere mony in both French and Eng lish. A spokesman said the Pass- over ceremony was presented just before the liturgy of the Last Supper “because it is good for Christians to recall the meaningful religious signi ficance of the Passover, chosen by Christ as the context for the institution of the Eucharist.’’ annual Spring Concert—“A NIGHT OF MELODY” The program will be composed of patriotic and religious music as well as popular Broadway music Including selections from the hit shows “WEST SIDE STORY” and “CAMELOT”. MARY Watson, Junior, will provide excellent accompani ment to a major portion of the songs. She will be assisted by Ann Kassinger, also a Junior. The evening will be sparked by delightful choreagraphy and superb solos. Senior soloists, Patti Jo Ralph, Gary Dempsey, Joseph Troy, will pnee again this year provide an especial ly entertaining break. New comers to the solo spotlight, Caroline Yopp and Mary Ellen Hughes, will offer additional en joyment to the evening with their talented numbers. NEWARK (NC)—To every body who has heard about them except the people at Catholic Charities, they are Mr. and Mrs. X. And to everybody they are heroes of a sort. MR. AND Mrs. X. this month concluded the legal proceedings enabling them to adopt the larg est family ever put up for adoption through Associated Catholic Charities of the Ne wark archdiocese. The children all came from a home broken up by desert ion. For their own protection, Catholic Charities has refused to divulge their names or the names of the adopting parents —or even the number of child ren involved. Msgr. Patrick J, Trainor, acting director of Ca tholic Charities, will reveal only that they number “more than seven but fewer than 12.” AND that’s all Mr. and Mrs. X knew when they first made application for adoption a year ago. The story began when Msgr. The children deserved to be together, he told the paper in November, 1961. A friend brought the article to the attention of Mr. and Mrs. X who reside in another state. They saw the article on a Fri day. By the following Monday a letter was on Msgr. Train- or’s desk offering to adopt the youngsters. "We’re walkirig on air,” said Mr. X when the proceedings came to an end this week, more than a year after the first of the children had arrived to share the X's home with their one son. What was it like at the start? Well, Mrs. X replied, we dis covered fairly soon that “our pots and pans weren’t big enou gh.” Students Tour Journal Plant Journalism students from St. Pius X toured the Atlanta Jour nal on April 8. Mr. Frank L. 1 eske of the Journal advertiz ing department guided the tour. Visits to the art department, advertizing department, city room, and printing press hous ing comprised part of the trip.
