THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 1963 GEORGIA BULLETIN PAGE 7 Sick Pilgrims At Lourdes TO LOURDES Pilgrimage For Sick Scheduled October BOSTON, Mass.—A National Rosary Pilgrimage for the Sick to Lourdes and Paris will take place from October 1-9, 1963, under the sponsorship of the Lourdes Bureau of the Marist Fathers. An announcement here said that arrangements for the pil grimage had been placed with the Catholic Travel Office, Washington, D. C., to which re servations should be made. Spi ritual direction of the pilgrims will be under the care of Ma rist Fathers appointed by the Bureau. incorrupt body of St. Catherine Laboure' rests. Our Lady also appeared to her. Other Paris shrines to be visited include that of St. Vincent da Paul and St. Louise de Marilac, co founders of the Daughters of Charity. The air pilgrimage leaves New York, October 1, from In ternational Airport after the blessing of the sick and Bene diction in th e chapel of Our Lady of the Skies. Air France has made special arrangements to .cater for all pilgrims, ac cording to their condition. THE LOURDES Shrine of Our Lady has been the center of devotion for the sick for many years. Ever since the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Berna dette at the Grotto site, one hundred years ago, pilgrims have flocked there for both physical and spiritual healing. Paris is also included in the itinerary' by special demand for visits to the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, where the The pilgrimage will culmi nate on October 9, with Mass at the Miraculous Medal Shrine, followed by Air France Jet to New York. All-inclusive cost for pilgri mage is $598. Rates for stret cher cases will be quoted on request on application to the Of ficial Agent, the Catholic Tra vel Office, Dupont Circle Build ing, Washington 6, D. C. India: A Bishop Provides Land For His People The Holy Father's Mission Aid for the Oriental Chunk At Lourdes in France, there is the tamed shrine where Our Bless,*U Lady appeared to Bernadette Soubirous. "A door opened on Heaven,” one Pope explained it . . . Today in far-off India, a parish dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes needs a financial miracle. The story begins twenty years ago when the v» hop of the diocese bought land for J. l / ™ * sonic 350 families. The place was named ALEXNAGAR COLONY and is situated in MADAMPAM in NORTHERN MALABAR. The first priest sent there built a shed for Moss. The place is close to the jun gle and wild animals and malaria are prevalent. The priest came down with malaria and had a fever every other day for three years. Still he and his people held on . . . The other day, the shed crumbled under the impact of time and weather. Mass had to be said in the school which is against government regulations. The pastor is now trying to build a modest church, 120 feet by 80 feet. His name is Father S. J. MUTHUKATTIL. The parishioners have donated their labor to build the foundation. They have little or no money to give. Father needs 54,000 to finish the building. His Bishop and the Sacred Congregation of the Eastern Rites in Rome add their fervent plea for his aid . . . Maybe sometime, somewhere. Our Lady of Lourdes was Rood to you. This would be a nice time to reciprocate. With your help a miracle can take place. Any amount will be ap preciated. T\KF. \ NUMBER. DIVIDE BY A HUNDRED We know of a priest who lias a simple method of seeking help when in need financially. He says a prayer, offers a Mass in tention. calculates the sum needed, divides by a hundred and then sends the hundredth part to the poor—immediately. His reasoning is simplb. Didn’t Christ promise a hundredfold? . . . Maybe you have a financial problem. Why not think of send ing a $10 FOOD PACKAGE to the PALESTINE REFUGEES? Or $2 for a BLANKET for a BEDOUIN FAMILY. GRADUATION DAY: ENTER JOY And what joy! A young person walks down a college aisle through admiring crowds of relatives to get the sheepskin. Emotions are intense. Exultation, joy. tenseness! Some stu dents arc as white as the parchment they are to receive and their smiles, shall we say it, a little sheepish with so much limelight. We ask them—and you—to think of those needy seminarians and Sisters-to-be in our care who wish to seek after Christ’s other sheen, students such as THOMAS SARTO TIIARAYIL and SEBASTIAN SAVIO PERF.PPAHAN of Ban galore. Ind'a and SISTER LIC.OURI and SISTER VIANNEY of the Carmelite Sisters in India. They and others need $100 a year as a seminarian for six years training and $150 a year for two years to become a Sister. Will you adopt one of them. We have the names of many others. TtfE POETS ARE BANISHED In the life of St. Columcille. we read of his plea to save 1,200 poets from beinit banished from Ireland. They were demand ing too much food, shelter for themselves and their retinue. The Saint prevented their banishment and immediately the 1.200 b-'rris composed and sanu a most beautiful song in his honor but lie forbade them to give him anv more honor . . . We have many MISSION CLUBS where you can help MONTHLY for a son-; as the phrase goes—a prayer and a $1 a month. We list the clubs: DAMIEN LEPER CLUB (cares for lepers); ORPHANS BREAD (F-cds orphans): PALACE OF GOLD (Provides for aged): BASILIANS (Supports mission schools); MON ICA GlTLD (Provides chalices, etc. for churches).
