At the conclusion of the Mass Father Whyte gave his first blessing to the bride and groom and then to the congregation. Following this, the bride and groom were privileged to rece ive the individual blessing of all the priests attending. Sac- t red Heart Liturgical Choir un der the direction of Mr. Robert Krick sang the Mass. Miss Mary Patricia Whyte, sister of the bride was maid of honor. Bridesmaides were Miss Veronica Ayers and Miss Kathleen Conrad, Best man was Richard Ayers and the ushers were Thomas Daly, Leo Coletti and William Powell. A joint reception for the bride and groom along with Father Whyte was held immediately following the ceremony at the Dinkier Plaza Hotel. Father Whyte will remain with his family until Augst 25th at which time he will go to his first assigment at Chanel High School in Cleveland, Ohio. The bride and groom will re side in Atlanta following their honeymoon. Mr. Ayers is asso ciated with the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta and is a student at the University of Georgia, Marietta Division. The bride is daughter of the late Alexander Whyte fcteifa 0$ KtuA Carrot 2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups Wesson Oil 4 eggs, unbeaten 3 cups flour 2 tsp, baking powder 2 tsp, soda 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 cups grated carrots (raw) 1 cup chopped nuts Cream sugar and Wesson Oil until light and fluffy, Add flour, eggs, baking powder, soda, salt Cake and cinnamon to this mixture. Fold in carrots and nuts. Pour into pans and bake at 300 for 30 to 40 minutes. ICING 1 pound Confectioners Sugar 1/2 stick margerine 8 ozs, Philadelphia Cream Cheese 2 tsp. vanilla Cream cheese and margerine. Add 3ugar gradually until smooth. Add vanilla. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Boy born July 26, 1963 Our Lady of Assumption Parish Conduct Work Shops In September "Priest and Layman - Inse- perable Partners", theme of the seventh annual meeting of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, is announced this week by Mrs. Edward P. Faust, president-elect of the ACCW. Using the theme as an in tegral part of their plans, the members of the ACCW will conduct ten seperate workshops during the September 7th meet ing at the Dinkier Plaza Hotel. Workshop chairmen and their subjects are as follows: Mrs. Glenn L. Crowell, Jr. of St. Thomas More, Civil Defense; Mrs. R, L. Stevens of Christ ’the King, Cooperating with Ca tholic Charities; Miss Ann Mc Laughlin of Sacred Heart, Co operating with CCD; Mrs. John E. Ryan of Sacred Heart, Grif fin, Family and Parent Edu cation; Mrs. Paul W. Smith of Saints Peter and Paul, Le gislation; Mrs. Jack Tracey of Christ the King, Libraries and Literature; Mrs. Ferdinand Buckley of St. Jude’s, Public Relations; and Mrs. Thomas V. Bockman of Christ the King, Spiritual Development. Chair men of Foreign Relief and of Organization and Development have not been named as yet. The full day of activities for some 200 members of affiliated organizations will begin follow ing a dialogue mass celebrat ed by His Excellency, Arch bishop Paul J. Hallinan at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Installation of officers will then be held in the church with the following being installed; Mrs. Edward P. Faust, president, Mrs. George Briggs, First Vice President; Mrs. Herb T. Mal- lon, Second Vice President; Mrs. Jack Kesler, Third Vice President; Mrs. Harry Horsey, recording Secretary; Mrs. W. L. Dennon, Corresponding Se cretary; Miss Ann McLaugh lin, Treasurer; and Mrs. John Flack, Parliamentarian. Registration will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the hotel. The afore mentioned workshops will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at which time the business meeting will open. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and will be highlighted by a talk by Monsignor John P. Knott from the Family Life Bureau of the National Catholic Welfare Con ference in Washington, D.C. The meeting will be adjourn ed at 8 p.m. Parents Club To Hold Spaghetti Supper Mr. Nehl Vaughn, Social Ch airmen of the Immaculate Heart of Mary School Parents Club have announced planned to hold a Spaghetti Supper "Old Coun try Style" on Saturday, August 24th from 6 to 9 p.m. Reser vations may be made by call ing Dr. H. Miss Sherry Ann Latz Engaged To Thomas Little Mr. and Mrs. William F. Latz Jr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Sherry Ann Latz, to Thomas Edward Little Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thom as E. Little of Miami, Fla. Miss Latz is the granddaugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Hurley of Pelham, N. Y. and William F. Latz of Bronxville, N. Y„ and the late Mrs. Latz. The future bride was graduat ed from D’Youville Academy. Mr. Little is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph S. Little of Grover, N. C„ and Mrs. Irene Wheeler and the late Samuel H. Wheeler, Sr. The bridegroom-elect re ceived his B. S. degree in engineering mechanics at Geor gia Tech, where he served as treasurer of Phi Gamma Delta, He was commissioned in June as second lieutenant in the Army Reserve. The wedding is planned for September 7th at Saint Jude the Apostle Church. Douglas Jeffords Mr. and Mrs. Whitefield Walter Tucker announce the marriage of their daughter, Martha Harriet to Douglas Corco ran Jeffords son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Crawford Jeffords of Nashville, Tenn. Ivan D. Illich, Cuernavaca, Mexico; Abbe Francois Houtart, Brus sels, Belgium; Father Elio Gambari, Rome, and Sister An nette, Washington, who is the executive secretary of the con ference. Rabbi Tanenbaum was criti cal of the "inadequate or dis torted portrayal in religious textbooks" of each of the major groups by the others. At this point he made his suggestion that religious educators meet regularly to deal with the pro blem. Greear, Miller Are United Mr. and Mrs. John F. Greear Jr. announce the marriage of their daughter, Jane Carole Greear, to Walter Leroy Miller, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lee Miller of Tampa, Fla. The wedding was August 3rd at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church with Rev. William Hoffman officiating. Mrs. Miller attends Georgia State College and is a musican. Mr. Miller attends Georgia Tech and will enter Georgia State College in the fall. Miss Eileen Whyte And Joseph Ayers Jr. Mrs. Ellen J. Whyte announce the marriage of her daughter Eileen Frances to Joseph Pat rick Ayers Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Ayers Sr. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother Dr. Alec Whyte at a Nuptial High Mass at Sacred Heart Church cele brated by her brother Reverend Edward J. M. of Cleveland Ohio; Rev- Altar Society To Hold Coffee The Altar Society of the Ca thedral of Christ The King held their»first Board Meeting last week to formulate plans for the coming year. On Monday, September 9th they will hold a coffee in the Cathedral Center. This will.be a social gathering for all old and new members of the Altar Society. Miss Bonnie Neiner Bride-Elect Entertained At Parties Many parties are being given in honor of Miss Bonnie Nei ner, who is to become the bride of Lt. Maurice J. Mag uire, Jr. on August 17 at Sac red Heart Church. A kitchen shower was given by Miss Melda Walter of Bra denton, Florida, who is to be a bridesmaid. Miss Neiner was feted at a linen shower in Saint Charles, Missouri, which was given by her grandmother, Mrs. Albert Bizelli, her aunt, Mrs. Robert Luerding and her cous in, Miss Lori Luerding. Mrs. Bill Robinson entertained at a shower at her home. Mrs. Ernest Ramsay enter tained at a tea at her home. Mrs. J. P. Maguire was hostess at a luncheon at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Talley M. Albert. Religious Isolation By Rabbi MILWAUKEE (NC) — A Jewish leader told a meeting of Catholic Sisters here that the isolation of various relig ious and ethnic groups in Ame rica must be ended, and sug gested the creation of a com mission of religious educators to help accomplish it. Rabbi Marc H. Tanenbaum of the American Jewish Com mittee, who made, the proposal, a coordinating service for the 180,000 teaching nuns of the U. S. OTHER principal speakers at the conference’s fifth annual Curriculum and Faculty Work- Ready-Made Family From 2 Marriages - 26 Children The bride was given in mar riage by her father, and at tended by her cousin, Miss Nancy Ray, of Birmingham, Ala. Mr. Mel Maloy, of Bruns wick was best man, and g rooms- men-ushers were; Mr. Wayne Rayburn and Mr. Don Rayburn of Brunswick, Mr. Jack And rews and Mr. Hadly Hays of Atlanta. The bridal gown was knee- length, fashioned with a fitted bodice of white lace over taf feta, featuring a sweetheart- neckline. The dome shaped skirt was of chiffon over taf feta with a flat lace bow at the back, extending to the hem line. The elbow length veil was of -illusion caught in a petal crown trimmed with seed pearls and irridescent mother of pearl. The bride carried a nosegay bouquet of white rosebuds with tuberoses caught in the satin streamers. The maid of honor was lovely in yellow organza over taffeta with a matching headpiece. Her nosegay bouquet was yellow and white rosebuds. GRAND MOUND, Iowa (NC) —Unlike lightning, marriages with ready-made families oc curred twice here—within a week, too. As soon as Mrs. Helen Mc Donnell of this city ami Ray mond Nugent of Atalissa, Iowa, pledged their "I do’s" (Aug. 3) in SS. Philip and James church here, presto—they had a family of 14 children. The bride was the widow of William McDonnell, a Navy re serve flier, who was killed in a plane crash January 24,1961, while on a training cruise off San Diego Bay. They had 10 children. Nugent’s first wife died of cancer four years ago. They had four children. BUT that’s not all. The matron of honor at the wedding was Mrs. Natalie Hesse of Calamus, Iowa, and the best man was John Reagan ofZwing- le, Iowa. A week later (Aug. 10) in the same church, Mrs. Hesse and Reagan were married and have a ready-made family of 12 children. The bride and groom each had six children by previous marriages. To top things off, the new Mrs. Nugent was the organist at the Reagan-Hesse nuptials. ‘'Carnival” Final Play Of Season the successful film, "Lilli," plays at Chastain Memorial Amphitheater thru Sunday, Au gust 18th. An ideal show for the entire family, "Carnival" features a group of performing puppets, as well as a whole retinue of carnival performers Winner of the New York Drama Critics Award for the best musical of the season, the Broadway pro duction starred Ann Maria Al- berghetti. And one performer, Helen Blount, even left Broadway’s biggest hit "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Try ing" to come on the current tour. The reception immediately following the ceremony was given at the home of the parents of the bride. The bride's book was kept by Mrs. James C. Giglio and assisting in serving were: Mrs. John Giglio, Miss Hollywood's Ann Bylth will star in the magical musical "Carnival," final presentation of the 1963 season for Atlanta’s Theater Under The Stars.
