Melton of Monroe, Georgia, was married to Roy Glenn Morris, son of Mr and Mrs, Jack Elbert Morris. The ceremony took place at 4:00 pm, Saturday afternoon, Octo ber 5, 1963, at St. Anna’s Ca tholic Church, Monroe, with Fr. James Harrison of Atlanta of ficiating. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white Chantilly lace posed over white taffeta, with clusters of seed pearls encircling the neck line and waistline. Her veil of silk tiered illusion was attached to a crown of pearls and sequins. She carried a lace covered prayer book showered with French carnations, Stephanatis and a white orchid, MISS CATHERINE Paris Melton, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Miss Judy Thomas, Miss Marie Blasin- game, and Mrs. Jo Anne Reeves were bridal attendants. They Miss Howard, Mr. Smith Married At Church Of SS. JUDE S Starlight Ball Set For Saturday Night Final plans for the Third Annual Starlight Ball, sponsor ed by the Altar Society of St. Jude the Apostle Church, are announced this week by Mrs. Ferdinand Buckley, general ch airman. The semi-formal Ball will be held Saturday, October 26th at the Standard Club. Approx imately 300 guest will gather at 6:30 p.m, for the cocktail hour. The buffet dinner will be served at 7:30 in the ballroom which will be decorated in an elaborate gold and white motif adhering to the celestial theme of the Ball, “Out of This Wor ld.” AWARDING OF door prizes will begin immediately following the dinner hour, and will in- lnclude the presentation of the main door prize, an outstanding Senate Debates Birth Projects wore identical dresses of emerald green chiffon over taf feta with matching accessories, and carried bronze Dody mums shaped in a crescent. WASHINGTON (NC) — The Foreign Relations Committee has sent to the Senate floor for debate for foreign aid bill which for the first time includes U. S. support for overseas birth con trol projects.- The committee's approval of the $4.2 billion authori zation bill is expected to heigh ten present controversy over foreign aid because of its in clusion of permission to use U. S. tax funds for research and “population control" progr ams. SEN. J. WILLIAM Fulbrigbt of Arkansas, committee chair man and author of the birth control provision, told newsmen he expects floor action to st art on Oct. 28. Reconsideration of the birth control plan was unsuccessfully D’Youville Talk "College and You'* will be the topic of an address given to the students of D’Youville Col lege in Buffalo, New York at an assembly October 25. Following the assembly, Sister will address a meeting of the Academy Mothers' Club. We agree with former President Eisenhower that it is not the business of government to enter into this question,*'Msgr. Tanner wrote. THE AUTHORITY to use tax funds to support birth control, a sharp reversal of present policy, is contained in a sec tion of the bill dealing with re search projects. Halloween Fete For Immaculate The Home and School As sociation of the Immaculate Conception School will sponsor a Halloween Carnival on Octo ber 31st. The Carnival will be held in the School play yard from 11:30 am, until 2:30 pm. Many booths featuring the Halloween , motif will attract the children's interest while games, cakewalk and other entertainment will provide activities for the young sters. Prizes will be awarded to the boy and girl wearing the most original costumes. Alur Society F^sident Mrs. Charles Buechlein said that the annual affair which is held at the Dixie Hunt Hotel here In Gainesville promises to be the largest yet. Last year’s crowd which drew over 200 came from Decatur, Atlanu and Marietta. O.L. Of Lourdes Club Enrollment The Sisters Auxiliary of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Atlan ta, will have its annual break fast on Sunday, Oct. 27, after 10:00 Mass. Tickets may be purchased from Mrs. Gibson, president of the auxiliary and from members. On October 18th the enroll ment of candidates into the St. Dominic Savio Boy's Club of Our Lady of Lourdes School took place in church. The pas tor, Rev. Michael McKeever officiated. Father was assist ed by the newly elected presi dent and vice-president of the club, Gregory Hogan and Mar cus Hogan respectively. At the celebration of the 8:15 a.m. Mass, prior to the enrollment ceremony, the boys received Holy Communion in a body. Thirty three boys were enroll ed. These members are from the fifth through the eighth grade. Monsignor Joseph C. Cassidy and Rev. John McDonough offi ciated. The bride was given in mar riage by her father, Mr. Peter Joseph Doran. Her twin sis ters, Miss Joanne Doran of Atlanu and Mrs. Louis Michael Backe, III, of Maitland, Flori da, served as maid and matron of honor respectively. Miss Sue Pritchett of Atlanu and Miss Bonnie Hayden, sister of the groom were bridesmaids. Miss Lisa Ann Bache, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The bride wore a gown of ivory silk peau de sole. The princess gown featured a Sa brina neckline and long fitted sleeves ending in a point at the wrists. The bodice was trim med with re embroidered alen- con lace appliques, crocheted with crystals and pearls. The controlled skirt also was trim med with lace appliques with crystal and pearls. A lace edged french sash at the waist topped the full pleated back that flowed Into a full length chapel train. Her cathedral length veil of imported silk ivory illusion fell from a small peau de sole ro sette.
