The chilling wind and slippery turf hindered both teams, part icularly on offense. In the first quarter the Trojans held the ball long enough to drive 71 yards for a score. The extra point that proved to be the mar gin of victory was good. IN THE SECOND period At hens again threatened but the stout Cadet defense stopped the drive on the 13 yard line. The Cadets cranked up their powerful offense, as Rhode Hill, Michael Murphy and Louis Lombardy quickly reeled off four first downs before punt ing. Hill’s punt went out of bou nds on the Trojan five yard line. A poor Athens punt gave Mar- LACEY A STANDOUT ist the ball on the twenty-eight. Quarterback Reitmeier threw to ends Harold White and John Banbury for nine and 18 yards. Hill plunged over from the two- yard line. The snap for the ex tra point was boobled and an attempt to run failed. The Ca dets trailed 7-6. ALTHOUGH THERE was no more scoring, there was plenty of action. Both teams made long marches before the final whistle blew. Banbury and Eddie Dyer led the Cadet defense which hal ted the Trojans many times. A late drive by the Cadets was stymied by a pass inter ception as Reitmeier filled the air with desperation passes. This defeat leaves Marist with a 4-5 season record, and snapped a three game Cadet win skein. The Cadets, dropped from contention in 5-AAA, fo cus their attention on the Lions of St. Pius X in their clash at Ponce de Leon on Saturday. BOX 11667-NORTHS IDE STATION ATLANTA 5, GEORGIA ADDRESS_ CITY ZONE NEW YORK (NC)—A National Legion of Decency spokesman told movie exhibitors here the public is criticizing the indus try today not for its product but for its advertising. Msgr, Thomas F. Little, exe cutive secretary of the Catholic agency which Issues moral evaluations of movies had praise for the general quality of films. Speaking to the convention of the Theater Owners of America he said the Legion last year judged more than 80 per cent of all films reviewed as morally unobjectionable for some seg ment of the audience. He said it would an “an In excusable distortion of the general factual situation” to speak of the “sinful condition” of movies. But he said he is convinced that the general public harbors "widespread criticism” of the industry. “Ironically,” he said, “the reason is to be largely found in the very instrument upon which you rely to sell your pro- n^^ANSWERToTAST” WEEK’S PUZZLF duct; I mean, of course, your advertising.” Msgr. Little then read some objectionable phrases and de scribed questionable art work used to advertise what he said were "important films from two of our major American companies.” He suggested to the theater owners that “your first step in building a bridge to univer sal respect in the community and to attracting to your thea ters the huge audiences which habitually shun you Is to do something about your advertis ing.” “1 have confidence,” he said, “that your organization can use its creative influence to correct a practice which not only of fends public decency, but Is a most serious handicap to your business prosperity as well.” Send or Phone Your Classified Advertising To The Georgia Bulletin P.O.
