TOCCOA PASTOR
Install Fr. Drohan Saturday
On Saturday at 10 a.m„ at
High Mass, Father Joseph
Drohan will be installed as
Pastor of Mother Of Our Di
vine Saviour Catholic Church,
Toccoa, by The Rt. Rev. Mon
signor Michael J. Regan,
Pastor of Immaculate Heart
Of Mary Church, Atlanta, and
Dean Of The Archidocesan Area
Of Northeast Georgia.
Although the Church has been
dedicated since April 28th 1954,
and came under the Diocese
Of Atlanta, it has not had a
permanent pastor due to a
shortage of Diocesan priests.
The Church has been served by
Rev. Michael Manning, Dio
cesan Priest from April, 1954
until June, 1956, at which time
a missionary order, The Verona
Fathers, (Sons of The Sacred
Heart of Jesus), Cincinnati,
Ohio, sent us Rev. Victor
MEETS WEDNESDAY
Turchettl, F.S.C.J., who was
Pastor until Septmeber, 1959.
Then Rev. Peter Tarqulnl, F,
S. C. J., was Pastor until
September, 1960. He was fol
lowed by Rev, Gino Doniney,
F.S.C.J., Father Doniney was
here until July 19th of this
year.
WHILE the Church was being
served by the Verona Fathers,
the population of Catholics in
creased in this and surrounding
areas, so that it became neces
sary for the priest to say
Masses at Hartwell, Clayton,
and Clarkesville, Georgia. It
has only been within the last
two months that Archbishop
Hallinan saw it necessary to
establish Clarkesville as a
parish so that at the present
time we have in this and the
surrounding area the Parish
of Toccoa, Mother Of Our
Divine Saviour Church, which
includes the Sacred Heart Of
Jesus Church, Hartwell. St.
Mark's Church, Clarkesville,
also includes St. Helena's
Church in Clayton.
