Coggin, O.S.B., an nounced today the appointment of the Rev. Dominic Joseph Pecoraino, O.S.B,, as the Di rector of Admissions. This is a new office in the Abbey ad ministration. PRAYER CAP 2 for S1.00 Father Dominic has just com pleted his graduate studies in College Administration at the Catholic University and took over his office immediately. A native North Carolinian, Fath er Dominic attended the Uni versity of North Carolina and Belmont Abbey College, earn ing his Bachelor of Arts de gree in 1959. He entered the Benedictine Order in 1956 and made his theological studies at the Abbey, where he received the Bachelor of Theology de gree. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1963. THE NEW Office of Admis sions, while related to the Reg istrar’s Office, will direct re cruitment, selection and admis sion of new students to the col lege, and the review of all ap plicants. When the 700 Belmont Abbey College students returned to their campus next month they will witness many radical chan ges since they left in June. Martin Gussman and Raymond Smith will join teenagers from across the country at the convention hall in Atlantic City. Vincent Aseff, one of the Altar Boys who has been under Father Linus supervi sion, climaxed the meeting when he read a poem dedicated to Father Linus. Entitled ’ Anoth er Christ,’’ it was written by Mrs. Marianne Perum es pecially for Father Linus as a gift from the Altar Boys, who also presented their modera tor with a large attractive pack age. This was the last Holy Name Sunday at the Shrine, for Fath er Linus and Father Leonard Kelly, OFM, who is also being transferred. The latter was not at the meeting as he was out of the city. Mr. Gasperini, Presi dent of the Holy Name Society advised a reception has been planned for both these priests, Sunday, August 23rd from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Social Hall at the Shrine of the Immaculate Con ception. An invitation is extend ed to not only the members of the Shrine, but to all friends of the Franciscans to attend the reception. Student Library Contest High school and college stu dents are eligible to enter the Students’ Personal Library Contest, sponsored by the At lanta Branch, American Asso ciation of University Women, which is now open. Contestants must list at least 25 books in their personal libraries and write a short essay on what these books mean to them. En tries must be maUed to Mrs. Herbert Alperin, 1151 Milmar Dr., N.W., no later than Aug. 31. Entry blanks may be picked up at the Atlanta Library and the Decatur-DeKalb Library and their Branches. Judges will include Frank Wittow, Director of the Acade my Theatre and Miss Mary Louise Rheay, Assistant Direc tor of the Atlanta Public Li brary. Prizes will consist of books to add to the students' collections. This marks the second year that AAUW has sponsored this contest for students, as part of its drive to focus the commun ity’s attention on books in Sep tember. Winners will be an nounced during AAUW's Fifth Annual Book Fair Sept. 17, 18 and 19 on the Mall at Lenox Square. The Book Fair gives all of metropolitan Atlanta a chance to add to their home libraries at bargain prices. Books have been collected throughout the yearin red barrels at various shopping centers and will be priced from 5£ to 50£ when the sale begins. Proceeds are used by AAUW to provide fellowships (schol arships for advanced study for women and to sponsor commun ity education programs.
