author and lecturer, will pre

Family Movement of the par

NOVEMBER MEETING
MR. BREIG is assistant man
aging editor of the Cleveland
Catholic Universe Bulletin and
its sister-papers in Toledo and
Youngstown.
He writes a weekly column
which appears in 22 Catholic
weekly newspapers in the U. S.
and Canada. In addition, he
writes a weekly page for Ave
Maria magazine, and a monthly
paper for Catholic Home Mes
senger. His articles also appear
in such publications as Sign.
Our Sunday Visitor, Columbia,
Marriage, Today's Family, Ex
tension, America and others.
HE IS an associate editor of
Aye Maria, Our Lady's Digest,
Family Digest and Catholic
Home Messenger. He and his
wife, Mary, are parents of five
and grandparents of eight.
Mr. Breig is author of nine
books, two of which are current:
The Mysteries of Marriage, and
The Family and the Cross.
Mr. Breig wrote The Mysteries
of Marriage in response to the
appeal of Pope John XXIII to all
men of good will to do every
thing possible to show forth the
shining beauty and nobility of
marriage and family life.

St. Mary’s School
Honored By Kiwanis
The November meeting of St.
Mary's School Auxiliary was
opened with prayer by Father
Dale Freeman. Mrs. Jack Tol
bert called the meeting to or
der. Mr. Elmer Guidenschuh
gave a report on St. Mary's
football team, and announced
that Richmond Woiistein and
Brad Cesoutte won the trophies
for the year, as being the out
standing players for the team.
Mr, Robert Swords announ
ced that the Kiwanis Club has
selected St. Mary's School for
the Institutional School of the
month and the School will be
honored on November 30. St.
Mary's School will have Open
House on November 22 to dis
play different projects from
each room. All are cordially
invited to visit the School on the
22nd, from 2 until 4 in the after
noon, St. Mary's monthly paper
drive will be the last Wednes
day of the month.
Mr. Swords introduced the
guest speaker for the evening,
Mr, Nevin Jones, Principal of
Model School. Mr. Jones have a
very inspiring and enlightening
talk on "Administrative Prob
lems in the Operation of a Pub
lic School with particular em
phasis on the Chronic Disci
pline Problem". At the close
of the meeting a refreshment
hour was held.

queen crowned Joan at the
half time ceremonies last Fri
day when St. Pius beat Tucker
32-6.
Comprising the homecoming
court were seniors; Linda Gal
loway, Frances Hynes, Beryl
Prevost, and Sally Mosley, Re
presenting the junior class was
Jan Jenkins. The sophomores
choose Helen Hynes while tht
freshmen elected Le Ann Petit.

ham, Steve Binion, Bobby Bis-
sinnar, John Douglas, Jimmy
Haddad and Bill Mosley.
"Put a Tiger in YourTrunk"
was the junior class entry of
the homecoming floats. It won
first place in the judging of the
floats. The senior's float, "Sen
ior Ring," took second. "Poor
Tuckered Out Tigers," sopho
more entry placed third. Judges
for the competition were Father
James L. Harrison, principal
and Father John Cotter, vice-
principal.
The "Kick Off' banquet of
the St. Gerard Atheltic Asso
ciation was helcP on Saturday
night Nov. 7 in the St. Gerard
School cafeteria. Theaffairwas
attended by about fifth associa
tion members and guests. ■
The purpose of the associa
tion is to assist the school au
thorities in promoting a well
rounded athletic program for
both boys and girls of the St.

semi-annual Hour of Recollec
tion held this week at Immacu
late Heart of Mary Church.
The hour of recollection
opened with singing led by the
pastor of the parish. Monsignor
Michael J. Regan. A dialogue
Mass, facing the people, was
offered by the club chaplain.
Father Don Kieman. The hom
ily was delivered by the Cluw
plain. Mr. Paul Smith acted
as narrator and the Mass was
served by Mr, Max Bipps »nd
Mr. Henry Newman.
A dinner followed the relig
ious services. During the meal
songs were sung by the choir
of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary church.

lar meeting on Monday night,
November 2nd in the parish hall.
After a short business meet
ing, Father Joseph Beltran read
'The Dream of Gerontius," by
John Cardinal Newman.
Plans were discussed for a
joint meeting in December with
the men's council of the church.

Mr. Williams has recently
been appointed to the Safety
Council by the Speaker of the
House. The Council consists
of members appointed by the
Governor, the Lieutenant Gov
ernor and the Speaker.
RECENTLY returning from a
safety education meeting held in
Des Moins, Iowa, Mr. Williams
chose as his topic the future
plans for safety education in the
state of Georgia. Referring to
the Governor’s plan for 3
E's, that is: Education, Enfor
cement and Engineering, Mr.
Williams pointed out what might
be expected by way of traffic
safety legislation in the next
session of the General Assem
bly to be held in January.
Mr, Williams was especially
high in his praise of the train
ing given to the California
Highway Patrol and expressed
his hopes for the new Police-
Academy now under construc
tion in Georgia.

quarterback John Griffin hit

look-in pass. This play started
on the 35 yard line and end
ed as Angelich crossed the goal.
This made the score 12-0
Tucker got rolling offensively
next on a 65 yard pass play.
Their try for extra point was
wide.
SCORING was not over for the
half. Again it was Freant who
crossed the goal line, this time
from four yards out. A Griffin
to Angelich aerial had put the
Godl and White.
Pius struck again in the third
quarter. Senior Joe Mulvihill
raced for the TD from 30
yards away. Freshman Greg
Blake toed the extra point suc
cessfully.
THAT made the score 25-6.
The final touchdown came in the
last stanza as Griffin swept
wide for five yards and six
points. Blake's extra point was
good, ending the game at 32-
6.
John Griffin estabiished a re
cord in total offense for the
Lions.
MASS at 9 a*m„ Saturday, Nov.
21, at Our Lady of Lourdes
Church, Boulevard, will com
memorate the first anniversary
of the death of Jesuit father John
La Farge, one of the country's
pioneer priests in inter-racial
work. Sponsored by the arch
diocesan St. Martin’s Human
Relations Council, the Mass will
be offered by Fr. William Cal
houn, who will also preach the
homily. Breakfast will be avail
able after the Mass.
Emory Concert
For Kennedy
The Emory University Glee
Club, Women’s Chorale and
Chamber Orchestra will pre
sent a special John F, Kennedy
memorial concert this Sunday,
Nov. 22, at 5 p.m., in the Glenn
Memorial Auditorium on the
university campus. The pro
gram will be purely musical
and there will be no admission
charge.
The main work of the after
noon is of special interest to
Catholics, This is Gabriel
Faure's "Requiem," with text
from the Mass on the Day of
Burial. All three musical
groups will particpate in this
performance.
Meeting Held By
LaGrange Men
The regular monthly meeting
of the Men’s Council of St.
Peter's Church in LaGrange
was held on Monday night. No
vember 9 in the parish hall.
Father Joseph Beltran ex
plained some of the Liturgical
changes taking place in the
church and the new duties and
responsibilities of the laymen.
Commentator and lectors were
appointed fr one month. There
will be another meeting Monday
night, November 16, and one on
November 23 for further study
and practice.

Archbishop Paul J, Hallinan
has granted permission for the
Sacred Heart Church to offer a
Solemn High Requiem Anniver
sary Mass Sunday for the late
President John F. Kennedy.The
Mass will be offered at 10:30
a.m.
The Celebrant will be the
Very Rev, Vincent P. Brennan,
president of the Marist School,
it is announced by the pastor,
the Rev. Thomas J. Roshetko.

Plans Festivities
For St. John’s Day
The parishioners and friends
of St. John Chrysostom Melkite
Church will celebrate the feast
of the Church’s patron saint on
Sunday November 22. Religious
services and social entertain
ment have been planned for the
feast day.
The Solemn Divine Liturgy of
the 'Mass according totheMel-
kite-Byzantine Rite will be cel
ebrated on Sunday morning
at 11:30. Father William Had
dad, St. John's pastor will sing
the Mass in three languages,
Greek, Arabic and English.
Also, Father Haddad will
administer First Holy Com
munion to three parish children,
Scott Haddad, John Melof and
Steve Melof.
SUNDAY evening, 8:00 p.m.
to 12:00 , P.M., a dance will
be held at the Dinkier Plaza
Hotel. Larry Williams, organist
