Girls’ College
Studies Move
To Notre Dame
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (NC) - |
Barat College of the Sacred
Heart will study the feasibility
of relocating on the campus of
the University of Notre Dame
in South Bend, Ind., according
to Mother Margaret Burke,
college president.
Barat College, about 30 miles
from Chicago, is operated by
the Religious of the Sacred
Heart.
Barat officials met recently
with officials from the
University of Notre Dame and
St. Mary’s College, which,
adjoins Notre Dame, and
decided to seek a grant from a
private corporation to study a
proposed “reciprocating and
tri-partite relationship” among
the three institutions. The
study is expected to begin as
soon as a grant is obtained.
In the proposed academic
merger, the girls’ schools would
retain their own
administrations but would
share faculty, classes and
facilities with Notre Dame.
